Monster Update on Older D&D Modules

February 18 (1 month ago)

Hi everyone,

does anyone know if there are plans to update the monsters from older D&D modules (i.e., The Wild Beyond The Witchlight) to the 2024 monsters?

It definitely would reduce game prep-time by A LOT.

Thanks!

I don't know for sure. I haven't heard anything directly answering that yet.

It's just a guess from me.

I believe that if-when WoTC undertakes to do that, they would Release each updated module one-by-one, and would advertise and make a somewhat big deal about each release. They might call them "Modules Remastered for 2024" or something like that.

Since there hasn't been a single one yet, that I know of.. perhaps it will be Phandelvar first? So unless they do a huge batch and re-release all the 2014 modules updated for 2024 at once (which I don't envision that happening)... it would probably be a long time down-the-road before eventually Witchlight is ever done.

After WoTC does it officially, then Roll20 can implement it here. I think it will happen over a long process, many months if not years.

It's a good question to see if you can get an official answer.. (?)

You can do a partial conversion (everything but spells, and only on creatures that have 2024 entries) by opening the character sheet for the old monster, finding its equivalent in your 2024 compendium source, and dragging the entry onto the open sheet. This will overwrite the monster wherever possible. Note also, this method only works on the 2014 sheet.

This method overwrites data, so make a back up copy of your game!!!
