2024 Monster Manual

Now that the 2024 5E Monster Manual is out, is there a way to read it outside of a Roll20 game? I can read the 2024 PHB. I can read the 2024 DMG (which I haven't quite finished yet). But, I can't seem to find a link to the 2024 Monster Manual. I can search for creatures, but I can't read it "cover to cover" like I can with the other two books. Thx.

Hi Saul! There isn't much to it, other than statblocks. It doesn't have the large front section the other had, nor large lore sections for each type (like dragons or devils). But if you go to the table of contents , start with section 2: "How to use a monster", click on the first entry and then use the "next page" button, you can read what there is.
Thanks Keith. Roll20 originally said that we'd be able to read these books "cover to cover" just as if we had a physical copy. That's not what they've provided. In the case of the PHB, it's not much of a problem. With the DMG it's a bit worse and some of the things just aren't there (or if they are, I haven't found them yet). For the Monster Manual, it's simply not true. I'll probably have to get the actual book now in addition to buying it for Roll20. keithcurtis said: Hi Saul! Can you find that quote of reading '"cover to cover" just as if [you] had a physical copy'? Because that's never been true on Roll20 and wouldn't make much sense. For example, monsters and spells are always broken out and served in lists instead of being sequentially readable. All of the text and images should be available through the Compendium, but you won't get a pdf-like or print-like reading experience.
Yes, I can. I was paraphrasing from the original ad for the core bundle which said a "seamless reading experience" and "Read the full rulebooks front to back in the VTT, on the web, and on mobile devices."  A clip:

Hmm. I find that wording to be less than ideal. It is true that you can read the entire book, and do so from the compendium, but it's not set up to mirror the print reading experience, I.e. "front-to-back". And to be clear, it shouldn't be set up to read like a print book; that would be counterproductive to its purpose as a VTT tool. Even the PHB breaks out spells and monsters. But the wording could be better. If you follow the guideline I posted above, you should be able to approximate the experience, though. Nothing is missing. It just really is 95% statblocks and minimal (compared to 2014) descriptive text.

But doesn't the above link ( <a href="https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Monster%20Manual%20%282024%29" rel="nofollow">https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Monster%20Manual%20%282024%29</a> ) suffice? That contains all content from the book with button to navigate to chapters and an index.

I agree the wording on the promotions is misleading and Roll20 shouldn't do that. But, what's worse, I don't think saying it here in the Community Forums will have any effect or even come to Roll20 Staff's attention to read the complaint. It's unlikely that Roll20 Staff will respond to this thread here, they very rarely do, anymore.&nbsp; If you intend to keep using 2024 --- good luck.&nbsp; You can get a refund from Roll20 for the product.&nbsp;

Randomly pulled the Beholder into my game from the 2024 sheet, and hilariously, the eye beams have the coding for the eye beam damage, but clicking to use them in any way does not generate the bracketed damage. Coding failure perhaps, or a bad copy and paste job? The random eye beam attack doesn't even roll a 1d10. It's up to the user to input the roll type in each entry. Same thing with death knight. anything where the entry has something like this as the damage doesn't actually do anything:&nbsp; [[10d6]] (10d6)). Meanwhile, the monster manual compendium is also extremely disappointing (along with the other compendiums, as digitalized pdfs are always suboptimal compared to a bookmark pdf scan of the actual book pages), but I am putting most of the blame on hasbro for being so weird about distributions of PDFs. (But also yeah that could catch a legal case because of the deceptive marketing, and I chalk that up to miscommunication between coding and marketing teams for what R20 would actually be implementing.) Please fix the roll calculations on the monsters please! I don't want to have to realize I spent 30 dollars to have to finish the work on the monster's sheets! edit: also hell hound's pack tactics are just copy pasted multi attack description when in the actual book it describes to correct pack tactics. This is a rough import of the new MM, holy cow.
