Default Token won't update?

Hello, thank you for considering my issue. My problem is simple: when I make adjustments to token settings (for example, allowing players to change values) and then edit character sheets to save those settings, the settings won't update. I have tried "Update Default Token", my changes won't take. I have tried "Use Selected Token" from the character sheet, but the changes won't take. I even tried deleting the default token, setting up a new one, then clicked "Use Selected Token", but my changes won't save. The next time I'm dragging the token onto a map from the journal, my changes are undone. My players have been complaining for weeks. Thank you for any help or advice you can offer!

From the general info you are giving, it does sound like things are not resolving like they are supposed to. So can you give a very step-by-step description of your order of operations. Maybe we can find the missing or out-of-order step. A screen recording might help, if you have that capability. Also, make sure that you do not have multiple copies of any of the problem sheets in the game, or even different characters with duplicate names.

Hmm. also, let us know if you are GMing a game created by a Pro user and are using scripts. They can easily unset changes.
I found a workaround. Still, here is an update: 1. Step by step description: I made a screen recording. 2. I made sure multiple copies of character sheets did not exist, same with duplicate names 3. I created this game, and was a Plus user then and now. I am not using scripts. My workaround: VIDEO The problem went away when I deleted the default token, then saved the character sheet. Then I edited the sheet again and pressed "Use Selected Token". At this point, when I checked the settings, they were still wrong (you can see this in the video). However, I then clicked "Edit Token Properties", and fixed my settings again. After that, the default token properly saved, as you can see in the video. I'm posting this reply for completion's sake. Also, there might still be some buggy behavior? Thank you for your replies!

Hi Andrew,  I tried to reproduce what I saw in the video and I was unable to do so.  Which browser are you using? (Looks like Chrome, but I'd like to confirm.) Are you using any extensions?  Can you repeat this in another Jumpgate game created from scratch? Can you repeat this in a Legacy game?  A note regarding Edit Token Properties: that is actually a different token setting system than the one via the token itself. There are two ways to change the settings on your token and they appear to retain the settings individually. It is a weird thing that Roll20 did 2.5yrs ago during the token update.  If you are unable to properly set up tokens via the normal method, I would suggest using the Edit Token Properties method. TBH, it is my preferred method.

Thanks for that video. Something is definitely not working normally for you. I also am unable to duplicate those results. Some questions: Does this behavior happen for tokens that represent NPCs? Is it common for all player tokens, or just some? Were the characters in question created externally by the players through the Roll20 Characters system and then imported to the game, or were they created internally? There are some different permissions things going on with the  Roll20 Characters system, and I wonder if this is interfering with some settings.

I am currently encountering the same issue and submitted a bug for it. I started using Jump Gate about 2 months ago and I'm sure it was working fine at first. I use the 2024 NPC sheet. It is very frustrating. I'm going to try Andrew's work around. Edit: Andrew's workaround seems to be working. There's definitely a bug there, but sounds like not everyone is encountering it.
