System: D&D 5e 2014 Platform: Discord and Roll20 Time: 8 est Friday Evenings Tone: Serious, Exploration and Empire-building, some Politics and Secrets. The game will emphasize consequences for actions, may feature moral choices and dilemmas. The world is old. The other gods are gone. The scars of ancient wars still shape the fate of mortals. Olmeryth is a continent of deep history and deeper secrets. Once fought over by Dragons, Dwarves, Fae and Infernals; it now stands in a new age of peace and hope thanks to the living goddess the White Lady of Light. New empires have risen in this age of peace and prosperity, some growing from unlikely beginnings to reach heights none thought possible and others built atop the ruins of fallen kingdoms to try to reach beyond them. The church of the Lady of Light claims divine dominion over all the land with treaties from the Elves and Dwarves that if conflict between nations would arise it would be quelled. Thus ‘war’ has become a thing not seen since the ending or the Great Purging War which drove the Infernals from the face of the continent after they refused to treat peacefully with the Goddess. Now the nations of Azmeryth and Rosemeryth stand as a testament to two once fallen great races and home to their still living kin, one who lost everything due to their inability to accept peace and one who sacrificed everything to establish that peace in the first place. Now despite and beneath the growing splendor of the current nations, lies a very uncomfortable truth: the world was shaped by ages of war; by bargains struck only in victory and defeat, signed in blood and sealed with ashes. Those powers and drives have been locked away for a century and they have begun to boil. Already the people of Azmeryth have proven that infernal whispers still echo in their blood. A year or so ago, they gathered their army and marched upon Rosehaven, the Capital of Rosemeryth and seat of the Slumbering Goddess. They marched with intent to take the city and to hold it for ransom so their demands would be met. When they crossed the border they were met with the combined armies of Rosmeryth, Stonemeryth, and Eternia summoned in an instant by the now awoken Goddess who directed the invaders be pushed back. It was more route than combat and they chased the army to several areas where they attempted to hold up. Some battles were fought, most were decisive defeats for Azmerythian forces and by the time it was over Rosemeryth had taken the land of Azmeryth as punishment for their aggression. This has left the seized area, which is now called New Rosemeryth, a volatile area as new leaders are being brought in and everything is in upheaval. Now all of Olmeryth is at a crossroads: Rosemeryth , backed by faith and blade, seeks to tame the wilds of it newly acquired lands that may have fallen to savagery during the recent conflict Azmeryth smolders under the weight of recent humiliation and tyranny and old secrets and scars. Their anger is only brewing hotter since these unjust terms. Silvermarch drifts ever onward on the lakes and rivers they have claimed. Rivers that flow with not just water but also coins and quiet power. Stonemeryth endures as the last bastion of the final unfallen Great race, their history hidden beneath the peaks as proud as they are. Eternia still clings to the arcane power and grace granted to them by their fae benefactors, even so long after they have faded from this world. Slaughterguarde waits. The orcish tribes that call the desert home sharpen steel and grudges, as old hatreds fester and boil in those savage lands. These are the nations which will have a say on the future of the world, but they are not alone. Among them are the heroes born of humble roots or lofty branches. They may be wannabe warriors, neophyte scholars, humble traders, or crackpot prophets—each will have a role to play in the uncertain future ahead. If you wish to join you will not be merely an adventurer. You will be a thread in the tapestry of fate—woven by ambition, torn by fate, and perhaps chosen by forgotten powers. What will you build? What secrets will you uncover and possibly awaken? Will you rise to rule, or fall to the echoes of a world that often subsumes the fallen but perhaps never forgets? There will be some Homebrew rules for character races and options so please speak to the GM before you make a character. If you are interested please do send me a message, preferably with your discord handle and any questions you may have.
