[LFP/DMs] [Unofficial Elder Scrolls RPG] [PbP] Elder Scrolls: Out of Fate

"God has no need for theory and he is armored head to toe in terror."- 36 Lessons of Vivic, Sermon 11 A Story Untold... (Summary) Hello. This game is a Play-By-Post TTRPG campaign set in the Elder Scrolls Universe, taking place in 4E, 18, which revolves around a faction of eclectic individuals brought together by a Exiled Psijic Mystic in order to face evils that other factions and heroes are unwilling, or unable to defeat. The goal of this game is to create a consistent, and invested group of like minded players and a few DMs who will tell a story cooperatively in this beloved fantasy universe. Players & DMs This game will not be a standard game with only 1 DM/Storyteller, instead the hope is that we will have a rotating DM system, where each person in the group who is comfortable DMing will get to run an adventure/Quest in a quasi-west marches style, within an overarching narrative, and following a single faction of characters(Our heroes). After finishing up their quest, the subsequent quest will be run by a different, willing DM. Not all players have to also fill DM roles, but atleast 3 DMs are required for this game to begin (I'll be filling one of those roles.) Think of it as a semi-game trade situation. Forever DMs who can't find games to play in, or who simply enjoy running and playing will feel right at home here. The goal is to allow DMs to run their fun ideas in the Elder Scrolls settings while also getting to take breaks as Player Characters when other DMs are running. This is not a Community or West-Marches style Discord server. We will have a limited player count, and our players and DMs will be expected to have as much investment into this table as a they would for a standard voice-chat game, or single-party PbP game. In terms of applications, applicants who are willing to DM will be prioritized over people who are only looking to play. This does not mean you won't be considered for a player role, but if you really want to dip your toes into the elder scrolls universe and play with us, a surefire way to get in is to tap a DM role. Expectations & Scheduling As this is a more limited group, Players are expected to post to mainplot/quest-related Channels and Threads which are active, at least Once a Day. If for some reason you can't pull out an RP Emote or Action within that time frame, please post a courtesy(Skip Me) in chat, and the DMs will assume your character continues along helping in some way in the background, until you start posting again. Players who do not post for a whole day without a Courtesy Skip request will simply be skipped. Any player who does not post for 4 or more Days without a more detailed Courtesy Post explaining why will be kicked from the game. Any player who is inactive or abuses the Skip Me requests for overly long periods of time will have their character shelfed from the current Quest. Posts do not have to always be long to count, if you need to you can just simply describe what your character is doing or what you wish to accomplish mechanically with a brief flavor sentence or two. This game is meant to stay active and we're looking for people who want to keep the plot moving, while also having time to RP more flavorfully when you have the time and desire. The Channels are always active but DMs will post when they're most likely to be very active if they desire. My most active response/post days will be on Thursdays, but I, as well as all other DMs, are expected to atleast make one post a Day similar to players. Preferably more. Mechanics for Time Saving There will be several mechanics potentially implemented to cut down on how long combats can take, so that we can focus on the Narrative around combat rather than Mechanical Crunch. The system will not be dumbed down, but you can expect many fights to end before an enemy hits 0 HP. Got off a critical injury on the Bandit Chieft that sliced his arm off? Hes surrendering! Did the party suffer a horrific first 3 rounds of combat, leaving you injured and bereft of stamina/magika? Might be time for a tactical retreat to re-asses the combat! The goal of Combat is to be impactful, to show the strength of the party, and to express the inherent threat and danger of the situation they find themselves in. Combat can end in many, many ways, not just absolute victory for one side or the other. A Battle could lead to tense negotiations for hostages, a swift surrender, a tactical route of enemy forces, or the capture of an objective. These Mechanics are all built around Player consent and ease-of-use. They will be further explained after recruitment processes are done, and all DMs will have a chance to review and potentially tweak to their own liking when running their quests, or discard if the party agrees with it. Three, Two, Done! is a good measure to go by. Three rounds of combat, then asses where each 'side' is to determine which side gets to choose what happens next in the fight. This typically doesn't mean 'we decide to kill the other side entirely' unless the winning side is the Players. Game Founder & 1st DM For all potential players, I run a pretty RP heavy game with an emphasis on Fairness and Intrigue. I like to build layered plots with NPCs who have secret agendas, hidden motivations, and where the quest can end in many, many different ways. Player freedom is extremely important to me, and I want each PC to feel unique and like an integral part of the story. I've been running games for a decade plus change now, and I have over 10K hours on Roll20 ALONE of experience. I may not always know the answer to a mechanical question right away, but those instances are rare, and when they do occur I'm always able and willing to make an on the spot ruling or find what I need for the situation. Application Please Apply through the Game Listing below. Alternatively, you can get ahold of me at weevilknievel on discord. Hope to see you soon!
