WebRTC and Jukebox

March 26 (1 week ago)

Hello there,

My group and I decided to switch to roll20 voice chat from discord and my party seem to enjoy it, especially the whisper feature.

The problem is that whenever I play a track through the jukebox the voice chat becomes choppy and robotic until I stop the music. Is this a bandwidth issue? Would we be best moving back to discord?

Also related but the keyboard shortcut for muting yourself doesn't seem to work and is there a way to change the audio output of the voice chat? Right now I'm having to set my default output of windows to the headset to hear my players properly.

Thank you

Hi RPGMer!

I have that problem too with the Jukebox. It only seems to happen with short sounds. Musical tracks don't seem to have this issue, at least not for me. You could try fiddling with the master volume and the track volume. I usually play music pretty low, so maybe it has something to do with that?

In the Audio & Video settings tab are drop-down menus for Audio Input Source (your chosen microphone device) and Video Input Source (your chosen webcam/camera device), but I think that your sound output device is entirely controlled by your system settings. I don't think there are browser level "hooks" to control audio output.

For the shortcut issue, I would suggest filing a Help Center Request, to get this in front of the eyes of the devs.

Thank you for the quick reply Keith.

That is exactly what is happening with mine. I do feel the only workaround for this, as my party do really like music playing, is to go back to discord for the voice chat. Which is a shame because i love the ease of the whisper feature with roll20.

Thank you for the feedback on the changing audio output also. Switching back to discord would be a workaround for this too i feel.

I love the whisper, and the minimal footprint of the video more than I want the occasional sound effect. And for some reason, background music doesn't have this problem for our group.
