[Mothership 1e][LGBT+][West Marches Style] - An Unhinged Model UN

Overview Hello! My name's Jeff and I GM a West Marches campaign that uses the Mothership 1e system. I currently have 12 active players (8 very active) and we're looking for a handfuls worth of folks to round the game out. Since it's a west marches style campaign, it's built to be pick up and play with each session being self-contained and with impacts to the wider world. We're about 21 sessions into the campaign but that's not including a side mini war game going on, a play-by-post constitutional convention that my players held, and side missions individual players are planning out in between sessions. We're an active community, LGBTQ+ friendly, and I think if we can get a handful more people in the roster the campaign would be perfectly well rounded. The campaign's focus is on community building & intrigue. Player characters are willing to die to protect their community first above all. There's some role play but the true focus is "society's a bit fucked, how do we fix it or at least keep going while keeping the factions at home happy." I treat combat as a cinematic fail state, no minis or combat maps, entirely theater of the mind, which typically means combat is big trouble unless it's properly planned. All rolls are player facing & my MoSH games are technically less deadly than rules as written. There are a lot of heavy themes - I tend to run my games with eldritch monsters being slightly less awful than the late stage capitalism of my worlds. Candidly, as a GM I take the awful state of the real world, dress it up in costume, & put a silly hat on it before presenting it to my players to tussle with. Games like Disco Elysium & Citizen Sleeper are most in line with my vibe. The Feel and Pace The primary goal of the campaign, above the actual setting and digital dice rolls, is community building. I ask all my players to put each other first and be interested in each others characters well before pursuing personal goals. Each one of the folks who play in the campaign really dig into this foundation - folks in the community are friendly, helpful, and down to nerd out by your side. In game this means individual characters are working together towards a communal goal - strengthening and safeguarding the organization everyone's building. No one plays a lone wolf, everyone works together for each other. Players self organize around rumors/community ideas and games take place typically in the evenings (EST), Sunday through Wednesday pending player availability. This campaign does have a slower pace. While sessions are fairly self contained and will always end with players back in the "safe zone," the sessions vary from harrowing near-death experiences to talking with NPCs and gathering information. A lot of info and planning takes place within the discord in between sessions. This can seem daunting at first for new players but I, and my seasoned players, always say to sign up for two games and typically your niche will fall into place. No one in the discord knows everything that's going on; but everyone has a spot they've dug into as their own or experienced uniquely which lets them act as the expert or point of contact in that niche. And there is a shit ton of niches you can dig into: dealing with organ repossession, fighting a war, explore and catalog weird biomes in an abandoned city, run a political party, solve a missing persons mystery, smuggle drugs and breadsticks, free the Androids, explore the digital world, make deals with an entity that it's not clear if they're some sort of horror or a rogue AI version of Colonel Sanders, etc. etc. If there's an interest that speaks to you, me and the players are very down for helping you explore it. The Setting and Play In short form: Your character gave up their freedom because of an insurmountable amount of debt. You did this either to protect something - family, friends, etc. What you didn't expect was that after going into cryo/stasis you would wake up hundreds of years in the future debt free and with a purpose given to you by a mysterious child. You're on the space station Prospero's Dream, you're a leader among people who are depending on you, and you're going to do everything you can to make sure your people survive. You'll either thrive together or die alone. The campaign takes place on Prospero's Dream which I've altered from the original Pound of Flesh zine and made into an urban-ish West Marches campaign af about 150 hexes. I say urban-ish because while a lot of hexes are city areas for folks to explore - just as many are hexes in "The Sink" (reimagined) where an unusual and incredibly deadly "natural" ecosystem exists. The Sink is the most traditional Mothership near-death experience where, even if you survive, you'll still come out with a disease. Exploring is a bedrock pillar not just in hexes but in relationships and factional interactions. There are internal factions who are working to create a future for you and your community and there are external factions trying to exert their own control over you and the community you're tasked with safeguarding. This is all happening while you navigate the horrors of late stage capitalism, bioengineered monsters, questions of what humanity actually is, eldritch beings, and the Executive Elite of Pottery Barn who are analogous to Dragons in wealth and splendor within this setting (they have breath weapons). Political Intrigue is another bedrock. Factions won't always be beaten by fists and guns but may need to be beaten through political alliances and out maneuvering votes and policies. These decisions will not just change how the map looks but have a direct effect on all the players existing within this campaign. You don't have to debate on the Directorate Floor, but if the Directorate Floor starts a riot you will have to dodge a chair. How to Join If you're interested, shoot me a DM or comment below and I'll reach out with a link to a google form that acts as our session 0. If everything on the google form looks good to you, I'll toss you an invite to the discord! If you're looking for more examples of what the game is like I've got a few below and some testimonials from my current players as well: - [Player Map Example](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CIcclE3Wd6aQGzZO6lxv2ENZoWZYAz5p/view?usp=sharing) - [Political Debate Example 1](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aV1pv0v6ApBd8sK5lQdm_3Teh7-wkKyg/view?usp=sharing) - [Political Debate Example 2](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YGTSnR6jMVllfO3lgBBREZMYn1nCNq6o/view?usp=sharing) - [Vignette Example 1](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UDecvPNHqZ4FWrfNcj7d-Ih-PXfG-OeS/view?usp=sharing) - [Vignette Example 2](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C_LzIo5eH-Z3DGidINRAtMjri45RNh99/view?usp=sharing) - [Vignette Example 3](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oX3j0sMk1_BUwygjlXkPySXe2YbhKFe9/view?usp=sharing) - [War Talk](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1A5rEIiGIfLTGgYK8OAUKsele2dmL6Nvv/view?usp=sharing) - [Player Testimonial 1](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XS42Ic_-p_Yw7FJvfTs7bnL7BOXTwpKg/view?usp=sharing) - [Player Testimonial 2](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DgHfzodT6LvhzivukIZNI8aiwaRFKTpn/view?usp=sharing) - [Player Testimonial 3](https://drive.google.com/file/d/18B9hKc02p6ZoZ16ny6Fvr0fg4z9hc4Pf/view?usp=sharing) - [Hacking Map](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qoiF47kboIQwfEQ0eRCqkSLhZZ9CXu7w/view?usp=sharing) - [Role Play News Example](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uQDIO6xC9AAthtQ-YpOE6IwDAh9jARYZ/view?usp=sharing) Thanks for taking the time to read, and feel free to hit me with any questions!
Hi, I'm super interested in this. I've got like little to no experience with this playstyle, but I'd really love to give it a shot!!
