Syndicates once united now tear at each other’s throats for control of dwindling resources, ancient artifacts, and the ever-elusive upper hand. Here, loyalty is as cheap as a single spell slot, and betrayal is just part of the game. "Greyburn: Whispers in Gaslight” is a beginner-friendly Dungeons & Dragons campaign set in a semi-modern, steampunk-inspired metropolis. Think gas lamps, grimy pubs, trench coats, enchanted firearms, and criminal empires run by both goblins and gentlemen. New to D&D? No problem — this game is designed to ease you into the rules while immersing you in a rich, cutthroat world full of mystery, magic, and morally grey choices. You’ll play as a member of a rising gang or organization, trying to carve out your slice of the city. Will you climb to the top and rule the underworld? Or will you burn it all down and rebuild Greyburn in your image? Either way, you'd better watch your back... because in this city, nobody gets out clean. DM Expectations and Style I run a a very character choice motivated game where the players are the main focus of the plot, because of this, character creation will be done together at Session 0 so everyone is on the same page. While in Session 0, we will also be touching on safety tools and boundaries, from there I will adjust my world accordingly. I have a discord server where players can discuss, share notes, and interact with one another as well as a Roll20 campaign for maps. As a Dungeon Master, I bring a structured but imaginative playstyle to the table. I usually run games using Virtual Tabletops like Roll20, where I provide maps to bring each scene to life. I also make use of online resources like D&D Beyond for easy access to character sheets, rules, and content sharing. My games are pretty grounded in the Rules as Written, offering players a consistent and fair experience, but I’m not afraid to bend or adapt rules if it enhances the narrative or makes the moment more fun for everyone. Tactical combat is a highlight of my sessions—I enjoy crafting challenging encounters that reward creative problem-solving and teamwork. Atmosphere is important in my games, and I love painting vivid descriptions of the world around the players. Whether it's the eerie silence of an abandoned warehouse or the bustling sounds of a crowded market, I aim to make every scene feel immersive. I try to use character voices to help differentiate NPCs and enrich roleplay, and I try to include ambient music or sound effects to set the mood.
