The player group of adventurers was approached by Clarice Suncloud, who asked them to find her father Havel. Havel is the Chief Engineer of the sewer maintenance group, and both he and his friends had gone missing in the past couple of days. Clarice had just arrived in town, but no one would help her; she offered the group 1,000 gold pieces to locate her father. Clarice mentioned that her father had sent her a letter about having found something amazing in the sewers and that she needed to come quickly to the city. When the group of adventurers set off into the sewers, they discovered that the sewers appear to be cobblestone streets that had been modified to serve as a sewer. They explored north and then east in the sewers, and discover a complex series of caves. At the entrance to the caves they encountered several small gelatinous cubes, who overwhelm the only wizard in the group, knocking him unconscious. During battle the wizard Martin disappeared in a mysterious puff of smoke, leaving no trace of his body or belongings. The rest of the battle went without incident, as the slimy cubes were dashed into pieces and scattered across the cobble-stoned street or into the water. Several pieces of jewelry along with a few rat skulls were later found in the remains. The caves were dank and damp, with steady dripping; several passages wound their way through the area, and the group eventually encountered a group of giant mangy rats, who were scurrying on their way to the entrance of the caves. The party dispatched several of the rats in close quarters combat, jostling for space and movement. Unfortunately during combat the cleric Blargg was knocked unconscious to his injuries, but the area was so crowded that his retainers could not even think to flee. When the battle was done, the party inspected their wounds for signs of disease and were relieved to eventually discover they had indeed avoided plague and pestilence. They carefully carried their fallen companion back to city for rest and relief. Back in town, pacts of friendship were made between the adventurers and several of their hired mercenaries; the mercenaries agreeing to become long-term companions, seeking gold and adventure with the group. Blargg eventually made a full recovery.
