D&D 5E - mixing 2024 and 2014 content

I enabled a new jumpgate game with 2024 as the default ruleset and added the 2014 char sheet. Now I'm drying to drop in some monsters from my compendium including some 2014 ones from the Monsters of the Multiverse. When I did this in my 2014 games, I could open up the character sheet for the monsters and play them easily. In this 2024 game, I can't access their character sheet - did I miss a step? Thanks!

Hi Hercanon! Can you explain a bit more what you mean by "I can't access their character sheet"? There's no tab for it? The token isn't connected to the journal? A screenshot might be helpful. Also, how did you create the monsters? Did you drag them in fresh from the compendium? Is this a converted game? When creating the monsters, did you specify the 2014 sheet upon drop?

Hi Keith, Many thanks for having a look - I'll take your second questions first how did you create the monsters? - I took them from a compendium purchase - Monsters of the Multiverse Did you drag them in fresh from the compendium? - I did Is this a converted game? - No, I created a Jumpgate D&D 2024 game from scratch. When creating the monsters, did you specify the 2014 sheet upon drop? - No, I just dragged them over. [Edit] - I tried a few more MoTM monsters and I _was_ prompted to choose 2024 or 2014 - I chose 2024 (I saw a forum post that said MotM was supported in the 2024 char sheet) and it failed as described below. But I see a fleeting error message now - see attachment at the start of the message.

So the token appears on my map, I can open up the Token Settings, but when I try to open the character sheet I get the screenshot above.
I have seen a report where the "No Edit Access" message hangs for a little but then switch to the NPC sheet. In that last photo, if you click "Build a new NPC", does it take you to the npc sheet with all of the expected data?

Thanks, that gives us a few things to look at. Since it seems your intent is to use the 2014 sheet for 2014 content, do you have your settings set to ask which sheet to use upon a Compendium drop, or to automatically choose one? It should resolve for one or the other depending on your choice and settings. Not sure why it is hanging up there, nor why you are seeing the 2024 sheet when it is your intent (I assume) to build this using the 2014 sheet. Assuming clikcing "Edit Sheet Directly" does not clear this up, and your intent is to use the 2014 sheet, my suggestion is: Delete any copies of the dragged in monster. This will enforce a fresh drop, and not a copy of a monster that appears to be hung up. Ensure that your default for dragging and dropping a monster is correct for the behavior you want. (ask on drop, or always automatically prefer one or the other). Drag in a new copy (don't skip step one) of the problem monster, making sure that the intended sheet is chosen That should ensure you get a correctly formatted monster. If you are still running into issues, and you'd like another set of eyes on this, feel free to DM me an invite, and I'd be happy to come take a look.
Hi Kayla, Sadly the Build a New NPC - only keeps the name of the monster and all other attributes are not!

You might try dragging the compendium entry onto the open Character Sheet.  That may fill out the Character Sheet with the proper stats.

I tried that suggestion Gauss - and it worked while the sheet was open, but even though I saved it, when I closed the sheet and attempted to reopen it, the same issue (blanked out data) occured.
Keith - my intent is to use the 2024 sheet - this is my first 2024 game (after just wrapping up a 3 year Descent into Avernus 2014 game).  As I mentioned above - I saw a forum post that said MotM was supported in the 2024 char sheet, but it seems that there are issues.  I tried your three steps - but with the 2024 sheet - it still failed I'm afraid.

OK then. If you have eliminated any existing Clockwork Stone Defenders from the game (and checked for potential duplicates), and are still getting this error, my suspicion is that this is some kind of communication error between you and the Roll20 servers. I just tested with the same monster on my end and it built correctly. Your best bet would be to capture a  Console Log ( Chrome , Firefox ), and file a  Help Center Request , so that the team can examine the problem with the technical data they need.
Thanks Keith - I've logged the Help Centre Request. And thanks to all who chimed in with support!
