Welcome to the Weird West, an alternate history version of
the year 1884, where magic and monsters are very real and the West has
spiraled into an even more chaotic existence than in our timeline. This is the world of **Deadlands**, and I'm looking for a few players to run a game within it! Our story will begin in the town of Veritas, a hamlet in the Coloradan
mountains caught in the crosshairs of two competing rail
barons each determined to win the "Rail Wars" and own the nation's supply of "Ghost
Rock", the fantasy fuel of the setting's steampunk technology. Be
prepared to clash with gangs, robber barons, ancient beasts, soldiers
from the still-ongoing Civil War, and much more besides as you make your
mark on this world's West - and maybe a lot more! If you're looking for a chance to play a detailed and three-dimensional
character with a backstory that comes up in gameplay, within a PC-driven
world, and experience what old-school Theater of the Mind gameplay can
offer, you're in the right place. * Session Zero and your first play session are both **Free**. * Game time is Thursdays at 4PM USA EST(my timezone). * No villainous characters or PVP will be allowed. * We are using the modern SWADE/Deadlands ruleset, but hewing closer to the lore from the 2005 "Deadlands Reloaded". * Session length is 3 hours, run every week. * The game is run fully Theater of the Mind. * The game has its own server rather than being part of a mega-server collection. * I like to say "we're here to play RPGs, not Inventory Tetris" - my inventory policy is extremely lax, so all of you who hate tracking ammunition, counting exact change, or wrestling with encumbrance will have a good time with me! If you're interested, please make a post either here or in the Applications thread under the LFG listing ( https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/425858/deadlands-the-devlin-conspiracy ). Please include your name, timezone, prior experience with SWADE/Deadlands, a character concept, and two backup ideas just in case the first one doesn't work out. There's no wrong answers to any of those points. Payment Disclaimer: This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $20USD per session via PayPal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
