5e OGL Sheet - Hit Point Maximum Adjustment

This is an obvious trick that I didn't think of until today.  I didn't find it with a search, so it might be helpful to other Roll20 users. I'm playing Strahd and it seems like everything adjusts my HP maximum.  I had added a HP Adjust item to the Feats & Traits box to keep track.  Today the light bulb flickered on over my head and I typed  [[26-3]] into the Hit Point Maximum field on my character sheet.  It worked.  I'll probably still keep the item in Feats & Traits so I know where the adjustment came from and how/when to get rid of it.  But now I have another way to keep track of my base max.   This will probably also work with Heroism.

That is a nice trick but won't work in combination with the Long Rest button, so you will have to manually update your HP when you long rest. The method my groups use is to keep a "maximum HP" line in the Features and Traits section. Note: Heroism does not adjust your maximum HP. It gives you temporary HP, an entirely different mechanic.

This also works without the brackets: 26-3 I typically put the original value in parenthesis after the current value which also works with the token health bar but not the long rest button: 23 (26) The most common adjustment to max HP is the Aid spell which resets on a long rest.  In this case the disabled HP reset works as a reminder to adjust the HP max. It appears that anything other than a straight number in max HP disables the long rest button HP reset.  This might be useful if the character is suffering from some condition that prevents them from regaining HP on a long rest - you can just add an asterisk after the number to disable the reset.
