Tabletop Audio integration

October 09 (10 years ago)
It would be great if there could be a collaboration with http://tabletopaudio.com/ , a fantastic site which lets you stream a bunch of awesome background music for roleplaying. Perhaps an integrated player like the soundcloud one which the GM can control.

Sounds cool (pun intended)

I am in full support of this. That sight rocks and it is bothersome to have to download from it and re-upload to sound cloud. Side note it is free to use and all music/sounds are under a creative commons liscense so no copy right issues as long as you don't try to go and sell their music.
Has there been any further action on using Tabletop Audio tracks on Roll20? They are fantastic for use and it would be really nice to be able to use them. Please negotiate with him.

I support this notion, but we'd need the site admin along with Roll20 to support the idea. Would totally be awesome though.

I've had an email correspondence with the owner of Tabletop Audio. Nice guy. Would love to see it integrated into roll20 somehow.

Today I have identified 10 Suggestions related to Sounds on Roll20, and created an Index of them.

Kay, I think that your suggestion would gain upvotes by adding your Comment and your Vote on another existing Suggestion thread, because your idea is very similar and we can gain traction by voting together:

"Alternatives to Soundcloud" suggestion thread,

Please check out the link and post your TabletopAudio ideas from above, on there, if you wish. Thanks.

I have to agree with Gold here -- I think it would be better to merge votes into a more general request for improvements to the sound offerings within Roll20. This is one of the most distinct differences, IMO, between roll20 and other VTTs.

Also, I've got a bit of a love/hate relationship going on with TableTop Audio, which I've been listening to for weeks (and I'm listening to it now).

I LOVE the look and feel of the site, it's extremely well done. But, I don't know if it's terribly scalable, if he keeps adding tracks, to be looking over a large matrix of selections rather than making it searchable such as can be done at http://incompetech.com.

Also, I love the audio quality as well, but the different sounds tracks aren't really all the dissimilar in their feel. The owner of the site likes soft, brooding sounds regardless of setting it seems. I'm listening to it now and there is nothing in here that really is peppy, happy, or fast-paced if you ever wanted to create that kind of mood.

I think it's a mistake to think about replacing soundcloud. I think we simply need something additional, and I think this guy provides just that, but soundcloud, for me, takes care of my remaining needs with specific tracks.

I think roll20 quite simply needs more options to draw from. A jukebox is one thing, but ambiance like tabletop audio provides should be a separate matter entirely.

The great thing about soundcloud is, that I can make a free account, and upload my own tracks, for instance recordings specifically made for my campaigns, and then I can find it on roll20 and use it.

The sad thing about soundcloud is that it generally speaking has a very limited selection of tracks that are suitable for roleplaying games, at least for the games I play.

I personally believe that with the addition of tabletop audio as an actual implementation, audio needs would generally be satisfied.

Exciting News! Quoted from the Roll20 Email Update I received today,

"We've overhauled our Jukebox tools for the next update, along with including tracks
fromTabletop Audio. You'll now be better able to organize playlists in Roll20, and
have specifically-crafted adventuring music to accompany your questing!"
