Tldr; We are a very roleplay heavy group looking for 2-3 new players. However it's more so we are looking for 2-3 new friends, as we are a very close group. We hang out often outside of playing. For schedule, we play Saturday/Sunday’s, occasionally Thursdays, starting at around 12-2 pst. It depends on the players, but we usually play 2-5 hours, but can go longer if people are game. Again this is also a social invite, so we need someone who will fit into our neurodivergent, nerdy, very queer, very leftist leaning social group. Our go to game we play when we’re not playing ttrpgs is Phasmophobia. So that would be a good game to own, but not mandatory. We are looking for players for multiple games, including DND 5e, however we are trying out other systems as well. Essentially what my group is looking for on the surface are 2-3 players to fill in space left behind from those who left the campaign. However it’s a bit deeper than that as our social group is very tied to our games, as that's how all of us met; through playing ttrpgs. As such, our qualifications are less focused on who/what you would play. But rather if you would fit this group. The type of players we are looking for is someone who after reading the long blurb below, would see us as the perfect group, exactly what they’ve been looking for. Not just an okay enough group you can put up with for the sake of playing, as our hope is to add more people to the friendship group as a wholeAnd to help make things easier, I will explain the group layout so far. The writer of this post is Lena for context. Lena, She/her John He/him Azure She/her Mikah They/them The first thing to note is we are a very queer, woke, nerdy group. The majority of us are non cis men, the majority of us identify with at least one, if not more letter in the lgbtqia+. We’re also all neurodivergent. We’ve got 1 autistic member, 1 adhd-having member, and 2 audhd’s. I’ll leave that to you to guess who’s who when you meet us. ;P As such we do tend to get distracted, or fixated on occasion. We are all adults. Youngest is 24, oldest is 42. Frankly if you are a forever DM, this would be the perfect group for you as all of us minus Mikah have run at least 2 games each. We are currently wrapping up the game Azure has been running. John is handling the transition game as we already have a game in process of his. (It’s an Alien’s game, as John /hates/ dnd’s combat mechanics. He’s a nerd about it, lmao). The first game you would be invited to join is my game. It’s what we call a one shot… which I’ll get into later. It’s technically in the 5e system as I’m too lazy to find something else as this game is actually also a temp game to buy me time, as I am currently working on a more long term game. My one shot is kind of a sequel to a previous homebrew game I made, however 20,000 or so years in the future. Essentially the premise is that by now, basically every sci-fi story has already happened. Robots uprising? Handled, sentient robots have rights now. Space exploration? Been and done that a million times, etc etc. At this point, many feel “humanity” (As there are elves, orcs, etc) has done everything it could. Something many felt was affirmed when 30 years ago before the start of the session, there was a mass wipe of knowledge. Literally everyone alive suddenly forgot everything. Their names, families, culture, everything. They could still walk/talk, and had muscle memory for skills. But it was a full wipe. This was massive, as all preconceived notions, beliefs, history, was wiped in a blink of an eye. Written knowledge and such was intact, but many lost their connections to their old beliefs/past even if they knew intellectually about it. This current world is very depressed, very pessimistic. Belief in any religion’s numbers have plummeted. The one shot takes place on the furthest western most point. An island in the middle of the ocean, nearby the ruins of a long gone continent that self destructed itself. It’s constant rainfall, as such, not many like to go outside more than they have to. Players will be already established couriers. The premise of this one shot is that you along with your fellow couriers have a multi part delivery you were planning to split so you could go home early tonight… But unfortunately there was a mix up, and another courier who has already gone home for the day took the key you need to make your delivery. And so as a group, you all will need to go out, find this courier, get the key back, and complete your delivery so you get to go home. John has made essentially a warforged monk. I do not know what class Azure has picked, but likely mele as she’s playing a cybernetically enhanced orc. With big strong robo arms. What we’re doing is essentially choosing sci-fi archetypes, and tweaking the 5e rules to fit. For example, if you wanted to play a character who creates sci-fi tech, like drones and such, we could run it like a ranger or druid. Where instead of summoning animals, you can summon your tech. I can go into my longterm campaign once you join. It’s essentially purely built from scratch. As I’ve had an issue where I’ve made my games too easy and too chock full of high fantasy for my players in the past. So I am basically creating a homebrew system, with heavy focus on survival. So it’ll be something like you’ll need to track how much water/food you consume. Facing negative consequences if you don't eat/drink enough for the day. Now why I hesitate to call my first game a one shot is because we as a group are veeeery roleplay heavy. Like we are currently playing Azure ’s game. We’ve been playing for easily 6 months, likely longer. We have had one moment where we actually got into initiative. We aren’t combat haters per se. John is, of the 5e system, he thinks it's poorly made/balanced for players like us. Azure and I can run combat, it’s just that our very knowledgeable player who read all the books left. So we are improvising a bit. It’s something we’re working on, not like the law of the land. But yeah, we are really into roleplaying. We get really into our characters, their relationships, etc. If nothing else, the one thing you have to be into in depth roleplay dynamics… As that's likely the main thing you’ll been getting xD As like I said, I am going to be dming at least this next game. We will reconvene on what to play next afterwards as by then, we will likely have 2 or so new people to give their input. I will now go into a little detail of each of us. Me- Lena. I am 26, I am currently a junior in college. I’m an English minor, as such I get very into building complex characters. I’m kinda the go to for character art as I am an artist. So I may at some point harass you to give me a detailed description of your pc so I can draw them. I’m a cat person, my interests are GOT/HOTD, Yellow Jackets, Silksong, Stardew Valley, etc. John is our oldest member. He’s also the only non-American, as he’s British. Which is why we start at the time we do, as that’s his evening time. He’s married with a kid, and has a busy job, so is struggling in terms of time and energy. We already have a plan for how to accommodate him, as sometimes he’s just not capable of playing on a regular basis like Azure and I. He’s p goofy, yet is also like the big brother of the group. He likes Red Dwarf, Starfield, Satisfactory, etc. Azure is a year younger than me, she’s currently wrapping up her first major campaign as a dm. She did so well it became one of my special interests, lmao. She’s your standard, fanfiction fiend, who tends to lean more non-human when it comes to creating her pc’s like her last 2 characters were a Tortle, and a lizardfolk. She’s interested in things like Hollow Knight, deltarune, digital circus, Castlevania, etc. Mikah is currently the only one in the group who isn’t playing. They tried when one of our players left, and it just isn’t their thing. They’re a bit on the quieter side. Azure and Mikah are best friends, having met in college. While they don't join our ttrpg games, they partake in social time. They’re into things like Final Fantasy 14, Kingdom Hearts, Fruits Baskets, etc. I added the interests in the above because again, we are hoping to connect over more than just roleplaying. We often have spontaneous group hangs, often while playing Phasmophobia as John and I got really into it. We also play things like satisfactory and bg3 together, but Phasmophobia is our default. Surprisingly there is more to touch upon, but I will leave it here. Again, we don’t want just anyone to reach out to play /any/ game. Specifically we are looking for people who after reading all of this, not only are excited by what they’ve read, but think to themselves this is exactly what they’re looking for. If this is the case, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out and introduce yourself. After chatting a bit back and forth, I’ll invite you to meet the gang. Simply due to how long this all is, for points in your favor you can use the codeword ‘kangaroo’ to let me know you’ve read all of this and are still game.
