Edit: Closed. Hello! I'm Neth (he/him, 29), and I'm looking for 4 players for the Rise of the Runelords
Adventure Path using Pathfinder 1st edition. If you're interested,
please send me a message with your preferred name and pronouns,
availability, experience with PF1e and/or RotRL, and any questions or
comments, and I'll reach out for a quick chat.
Game
Date and Time: I'm planning to run weekly, 4-hour
sessions with a short break mid-session. My availability is weekends at
or after 7 p.m. EST or Mondays. I'm planning to have Session 0 during
the week of November 17, 2025, and start Session 1 by December.
Tech Specs: Roll20 (virtual tabletop, character
sheets), Discord (voice call), Obsidian Portal (campaign information,
journal). You should have a stable Internet connection and a working
microphone.
GM
Experience: I started with D&D 3.5e, played
and ran PF1e for about 10 years, and dabbled in D&D 5e (2014) for a
couple years. I've run Rise of the Runelords to completion once.
Pillars of Play: I plan on tweaking the AP to
allow for roleplaying and exploration to make more progress and give you
options to resolve some challenges, but there is still a lot of combat.
There is also some overland travel (and therefore downtime). If you
overcome an encounter without combat, I'll award XP and adjust
subsequent treasure values.
GMing Style: I start with "rules as written" as
baseline, and want to build a "rules as intended" on top via rulings and
house rules. I might make a ruling on a rules question during a session
to keep things moving, but I won't spring a house rule mid-session. I
will document and discuss rulings and house rules between sessions.
I like the verisimilitude of PCs and NPCs using the same rules,
and that your PC becomes exceptional because it's being played by you,
the player. I want to preserve the "look and feel" of "classic"
Pathfinder: I'm not a fan of char-op or later additions.
Lines and Veils: The AP has body horror, birth
and babies as background information, and a couple of flirty NPCs. In
terms of an "age rating", I'm aiming for somewhere between the Lord of the Rings and Dragon Age , but definitely not Game of Thrones .
I might fade-to-black romance scenes, and I will not run sex scenes. I
encourage you to consider whether this is a good fit for you, and if you
have any lines or veils of your own.
Characters
Characters should be non-evil, want to defend the town of
Sandpoint from threats near and far, and want to engage with the plot
being presented, other PCs, and NPCs. I'm rebuilding NPCs to use more of
the Advanced Player's Guide or to be in line with the monster creation guidelines in Bestiary 1 , and PCs should be balanced appropriately.
Source Material: Core Rulebook and the Advanced Player's Guide . Optionally, each player can choose to use up to one Player Companion.
Progression: XP (medium progression).
Ability Scores: 20-point buy.
Hit Points: Maximum hp per HD at 1st level, average hp per HD at higher levels.
Starting Wealth: Average.
Trait: One campaign trait, one non-campaign trait. Campaign traits to be reworked; TBA.
