DND 5e 2014 Character attributes transfer across characters with the same name

While i was updating a character for a campaign i encountered a bug where my saving throws and advantage toggle were not functioning correctly, after much testing I found the reason was that if two characters have the same name then the older character sheet's data will be used on the new sheet (ex, new character sheet has Strength Save +1, old character sheet has Strength Save +8, when a strength save is rolled on the new character sheet it will use the +8 modifier) Note the new character sheet does not show any signs of this discrepancy, as it will properly display the +1 Strength Save, however when rolled the older sheet takes priority. The solution is rather simple on a user end as even one character difference will stop the data mix-up, however I feel it is important to have this documented if anyone else comes across this bug or if a solution can be implemented (such as appending some random code to the end of names while rolling so even if the user puts several identical names on the back end they will be treated separately)

This is a long standing and well known element of Roll20. Simply put, do not have characters with the same name, the system won't know which character to pull information from.

Yup. Similarly, it's generally bad practice to include quotes in a character or token name, like Clark "Superman" Kent . And since they can mess up some macros, it's also discouraged to use control characters like @ # $ % & ( ) { } [ ] in names as well.
