Hello everyone! I am doing an interest check for an upcoming Candela Obscura game. The system looks interesting and I like the idea of using the fairly simple ruleset. (At least compared to DnD). If a steampunk horror mystery game sounds fun to you feel free to respond to this posting. If you want me to explain or clarify anything just let me know below. All experience levels are welcome and there will be a few solo adventures to go on before the final selection is made so we know its a system you want to spend more time on.  -The game will use voice chat over discord, video is optional.    - A game in a steampunk horror game with an early 1900s aesthetic.  Magic exists, so do monsters, both have been suppressed to the point of mythology. As technology advances and the reach of mankind extends across the world civilization is coming into contact with the remnants of the arcane and unnatural. Some are victims to it, others intend to harness it for their own aims. Either way, once you encounter it, you will never see the world the same way. Our game is primarily an investigation game where the ground work you do in advance drastically determines the outcome. It isn't like Call of Cthulhu though where you missed one clue and now are facing a total party wipe. -Focus on the fun and don't worry about min maxing, just make an interesting character and they will have a chance to shine I promise.  - Not the Candela Obscura Setting: The game rules and themes are the same, the setting is different with an organic timeline and world events that the characters can influence.  The world powers are beginning to muster forces after a clash between four major nations, it will be the first industrialized war where the dominance of airships and artillery will put in jeopardy by evolving  technology. Your characters can eventually join the war effort if you want, but the first few games will be smaller in scope so we can all learn the game mechanics and decide what direction we want the game to go into.   - Low commitment:  Once a month game with flexible scheduling. I am old, and excessively employed. I imagine a lot of other players are in similar circumstances. This game is a low effort commitment designed to work with people who have limited free time. It's only once a month, and we can all pick out a day that works in advance over discord. If a player can't make it, no big deal, just drop a general goal, roll some dice whenever you get the chance and they will be npc piloted for a session (they wont die unless you are there). - Yes characters can, and probably will die, but I doubt it will happen often, and it might not be yours.
