HELLO! My name is Dev and I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons since I was a hatchling. I started in 3.5e and moved on to 5e when it released in 2014. I also have experience in other TTRPG systems like GURPS, Dark Heresy, and Pathfinder. I've played the role of Dungeon Master several times, and like to drive my games like I drive my car, carefully and driving at the speed of traffic. Most of the lore for this setting follows what is outlined in the books and supplementary materials. It's a homebrew setting, but I borrow from Forgotten Realms a lot, at least in terms of Gods and whatnot. The campaign will take place on a continent largely ruled by a society of dragonborn who've established a hierarchy of races in which the draconic races rule and everyone else drools, basically. I also like to doodle, so there will be plenty of maps and character art to visualize your insipid crimes to your hearts content. I've been developing a campaign for freaks who like to do evil and crimes. I give it the working title of Goblins. In it, you will inhabit the role of a lowly disgusting goblinoid. Using the rules from Volo's Guide to Monsters , you will chose between three villainous races. The mighty bugbear, wrathful hobgoblin, or classico goblin. I expect you to play these characters like animals trying to survive, rats searching for their last piece of cheese. The world is cruel to goblinoids, and the Dwarven Commonwealth has declared open season on any and all children of Maglubiyet. You're lucky to be worked to death as a slave if you are captured by the beardlings and must commit grievous acts of craving and violence to protect your tenuous freedom. You will be starting as pariahs, the lowest of the low in a tribe you decided to tag along with. Your hope is that by joining the tribies you might make haste to the last known bastion of goblin civilization, the subterranean lair of Goblin Town. It is there that a goblin can fully realize their potential and become something more than mangy dog looking for scraps. Instead, you might ascend to the heights of goblinhood and become something that strikes fear into the "civilized races" of the Erisdar Empire. You don't need to list an alignment, but if you do I'd recommend something in the evil to neutral territories, as there will be little room for do-gooders in this campaign. You're free to do so, make a little goblin knight or something, but just know that you will be cutting against the very evil currents of this debauched society of freaks. Goblin society is harsh. Female goblins are treated like cattle. A blight known as the Withering has left most lady goblins barren. Barren goblins are known as the Withered and are regarded as being lesser than their coveted childbearing counterparts who are shamelessly stowed away in massive brothels and harems, the prize of their male goblin masters. If you chose to play a lady goblin (this won't apply to hobgoblins or bugbears, who also treat women terribly but aren't affected by the Withering) you will need to decide if you are either Withered (largely ignored and despised by goblin society) or capable of bearing child (coveted by almost any goblin you meet, and they can smell it on you). It will be even more hostile if you chose to be capable of creating horrible little green creatures, but it is absolutely still an option. Goblins eat things. They eat gnomes. Gnomes are like caviar, they love the taste. Most of your early games will be centered around collecting food and I wanted you to be prepared to eat things. I'm looking for players who are mature and have a sense of humor. This setting will be comedic, mostly, but like a dark comedy. Like Burn After Reading, or something like that. I will be interviewing prospective players through discord to make sure you are ON THE LEVEL. Feel free to reply to this post or message me and I will setup a discord call with you where we will talk turkey and get to know each other a little bit. Sundays are best for me and I will be doing this campaign biweekly to give myself time to prepare on off weeks (I have a job and need time to tend to my nerd gardens). After I've interviewed some people I will message the ones who passed the turing test and we will begin preparations for our zero session (just a meet and greet where we articulate our characters and the party dynamic). I imagine we will begin Goblins sometime in February. THANK YOU!
