Pre Made Characters

I am using some premade characters from the roll 20 library.  It won't let me level up the characters using the builder. It says "You have set a Species or Class Manually - remove this data to enable the Builder.  You can create a Custom Species or Custom Class in the builder."  I have tried to remove the Species and Class but it gives me the same error.  Any help on what to do to use these characters so they can level up?

Hi spolebitski,  Could you show me where you are finding the "premade character"? Oznon is not part of the "Ready to Play Characters". 

I changed the name.

It was Lucia Lozoya, Tiefling Warlock.  

IIRC, premade characters like Lucia are not leveled up in the normal fashion. "Lucia" is 10 different characters, one of each level. 

So once you use one you can't begin to level it up?

My GUESS, the moment you renamed it you broke it's ability to be leveled to another version of Lucia. See testing statement in later post.  My understanding is that each level of the premade characters is a complete character, and when they are "leveled" they are basically replacing one version for the other.  I am not certain about this though.  My suggestion, make a new character and grab the higher level version of Lucia. 

You should be able to change the name at any point, in or out of the Builder, but you might need to go back to level 1 to change class or species, and then level up from there. Does it not let you do this? I've never tried. EDIT: Apparently, you can't. Those samples were made back when the sheet was in it's earliest development stages, and likely have elements that don't play well with the current code. I'd vote for their removal or replacement, myself.

I performed a test, I created a character, selected Lucia, then immediately tried to level the character. Result: leveling is not available on Lucia. The premade characters were created before the sheet was in full release. They could be thought of as snapshots of characters, not fully fledged and capable.
