By actually putting it in a sheath on your back made for 2h weapons, or in a shouldsling sheath. The alternative is to by a sheet of canvas, wrap the blade in it, and tie it shut, and don't carry it by the hilt. Basically don't raise your weapons or threaten anyone with your weapons.
