Is there a reason all tile sets seem to be (for lack of a better term) crap?

Ive purchased about 8 tile sets now, and all of them are less tile sets and more just modular pieces of premade rooms, and even those ones have scaling issues or poorly made connections. Why is there nothing that has simple walls, floors, and props? Is this just a slew of bad creators, is there something about roll20 thats causing this problem? Final question is, does anyone know a creator that has actual tilesets and not just "pack of rooms and hallways"
Take a look at Gabriel Pickards Vile Tiles.
As someone who has spent far too much on this site (at least some of it was tax deductible), let's go into the best place for "tiles". David Hemenway https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/132/david-hemenway Except for the pre-made maps (that also come with tiles!) these products are entirely great, versatile tiles. Gabriel Pickard https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/64/gabriel-pickard As mentioned above, the "Vile Tiles" line is very good, but almost all his products count as good tiles. Tom Cartos https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/448/tom-cartos Amazing collections of amazing tiles. 1985 Games https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/546/1985-games Stylized, less realistic tiles. Still excellent, they just clash with some maps. I've used many of these tiles. Loke BattleMats https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/544/loke-battlemats Mostly room and corridor tiles, but they fit together well and they have a great deal of tiles for specific objects and map elements. I've used both categories of their products. Venatus Maps https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/459/venatus-maps These have a distinct style, but an amazing amount of high quality tiles. Forgotten Adventures https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/294/forgotten-adventures See the "Textures", "Decor", and "Dwelling" products. Meditating Munky (often misspelled throughout the internet) https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/155/meditating-munky All kinds of content, but some very excellent tiles available with some map packs or available on their own (though mostly for relatively niche uses). Misjay Maps https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/445/misjay-maps Misjay Maps produces full maps, but many sets have tiles that can be used with the map or any other map. I have used her carpets and other assets in many maps. Tiffany Munro https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/449/tiffany-munro A comprehensive collection of space vista tiles and many collections of tiles for varied uses. Greg Taylor https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/3/greg-taylor Wide selection of different tiles, excellently made. Caeora https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/1701/caeora I'm not very familiar with this creator, but I have one set that I'm quite happy with and they have a variety of tile sets.

Here's a whole train themed tileset I released but I understand beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/12650690/the-railed-engine-map-pack-now-on-roll20 If this was one the bad ones you're talking about I apologize and I'll try and do better in the future.

I just wrote up a whole paragraph but it wouldnt post, maybe this one will Summary: love the pack, I did find one instance of a kind of problem I run into, animated train doesnt line up with cart (not an issue here because its 1 thing that only needs to connect to previous car, so its one alt click on the entire map, no biggie (but trying to adjust size seems to cause problems...) Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it, I know my post could come off as aggressive, I was just frustrated with several packs I have bought being unusable.

The sizes of each cart are written down within the asset itself so as long as the squares are counted properly everything should line up. If you see which carts don't line up though let me know!

Dr DM said: Tiffany Munro https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/449/tiffany-munro A comprehensive collection of space vista tiles and many collections of tiles for varied uses. Thanks for the callout, Dr. DM! I do think my space tilesets are well worth it, although I doubt they're what OP wants, haha, I'm pretty sure that largely OP would think what I make is crap. Different needs for different kinds of DMs. The Cyberpunk Empty Rooms series was made in direct response to frustration I saw around the community in rooms having baked in storytelling. These are just empty rooms and hallways that you furnish yourself (possibly with my cyberpunk furnishing sets). Cyberpunk Empty Rooms 1: https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/set/17596/cyberpunk-empty-rooms-modular-map-and-hallway-tiles Cyberpunk Empty Rooms2: https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/set/19169/cyberpunk-empty-rooms-2-warehouses-and-industry Of course these are "rooms and halls". The very thing OP is complaining about. Quite honestly, the reason no one is supplying the full modularity is because making such a pack usable with Roll20's lack of folders within a pack is a pain and it's not what people are buying. I DO make tools for doing only wall / floor, and they're DungeonDraft packs, so that a DM can make their own map in DungeonDraft, which is 5000% easier than assembling a ton of tiles. I would never sell my popular DungeonDraft cyberpunk walls and floors kit on Roll20, because trying to make it functional and sensible would be an arduous task; it was much simpler to use the pack to create some rooms that people can furnish, and it's much easier for the end user to just slap on a couple of room tiles too. I am a DM. I use my things; I sell them to get extra storage lol. I made them for how I respond to my players first and foremost. I would recommend to the OP to look into DungeonDraft or similar mapmaking programs as a solution to the problem! Many creators on Roll20 also make our products available with different functionality for that program.
