Roll20 Characters on Mobile Browsers - Feedback Thread

Overall looking good, but two current issues on iPhone16. The Defenses and Senses boxes overlap. Also if I click Abilities to move to a different section the screen just goes all blurry.

Just had a Chrome update on the phone and issue one seems to be resolved (not sure if correlation or causation.) Still blurry screen when clicking Abilities though… Edit: Also not sure if relevant to this thread, but if I link a Demiplane PF character to Characters it then opens a Read-Only version…

Code was just pushed this morning. Also, please check clicking on Abilities again. That was fixed too (and is working for me now on both phone and tablet)! Thanks for the PF info, will look into

I plan on using as a 5e 2024 player, offline at a live table, ( on a cruise ship ).

is this strictly for 5e (2024), or is it system agnostic?

My group tends to jump sysyems a lot but we keep coming back to savage worlds and fate accelerated.

This is a dream: I would love to see a custom UI layer, it doesn't even need to replace the UI layer of the default ui. It would sit under that, but still track with the user POV or user camera. That would allow me to build a boarder around the screen for a GM this would let me bed in npc character sheets token actions, Attributes. And for the players, they would get a thematic screen border with similar features for their own character. I imagine it like an RTS or MMO ui overlay, or in this case underlay. As I imagine it sitting under the default UI of roll20. edit:  Just to rain on my own dream:  Of course it might be impossible to scale correctly to the vast variety of screen sizes, so perhaps a GM only feature as I would build the ui to fit my screen.  edit: I just remembered, it could be implemented similarly to how token actions and the macro bar currently appear. They could be on the same layer or the ui layer could be under the macro bar and token actions bar. But thats where I'd put it. And those bars already have rudimentary screen scaling by wrapping the buttons around to a newline on narrow screens.  Its a dream for sure. 

For me, this is handy as, when building a character or just plotting things out, I do tend to look up my character on my phone.  I use D&D 2024 and Pathfinder 1e.  And, thanks to the session today that you live streamed for people to watch and provide feedbacks in live, I learned the trick on how to access other sections on the D&D 2024 sheet.  Which made it WAY more accessible than it was!

When I click a macro from a popout page, it would be nice if any prompt lines would appear on the popout page rather than having to navigate back and forth between the popout and the main page to enter prompt values. I can use token actions bar to circumvent this already, but worth mentioning.

Would like for 3d dice on the VTT to show when rolled from Characters. I know it shows in chat but my lizard brain players like dice.

So as a sheet author whose sheet 90% works in characters... how do I test to fix the last few issues that are popping up?

I am a little confused on the features currently available. Clicking the link in the most recent email brought me to my list of characters, but it looks like it’s pulling from the default name from original creation.  When I tapped it at first it brought me to the game lobby screen so then I tapped on the character and it loaded with the correct name and a truncated version of the character sheet, but could not find features, spells, actions. I went into the game and attempted to load the character sheet from there and it failed. I assume this is just a result of it not being finished and in testing stages. iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 26.3 Chrome iOS  Version:  145.0.7632.108

Hi Brandon K.,  It is a known issue of the D&D 5e 2024 by Roll20 character sheet that it may not always reflect the character's current name.  IIRC, the problem happens when you create the character in a game and change the name before hitting the save button.  Try changing the name to something else, then change it back to what you want.  As for entering the game, the Roll20 VTT is not intended to be used on phones at this time. It may or may not work.  The announcement is for Roll20 Characters, a feature external to the VTT.

I plan to use the new mobile experience for hybrid play. My current setup is in person, Roll20 for vtt on laptops (gm and players), DnD Beyond for player sheets used on mobile phones, Beyond 20 to bring rolls over to Roll20. Works well, except I would love to cancel my DnD Beyond subscription and focus on Roll20. And there are limitations on what can be sent as rolls via Beyond20 I'd essentially like to recreate that whole user experience in Roll20. Things are looking pretty good at the moment for sheets but to make it successful I do think we need to have a dedicated mobile app for sheets, partially for players. A place for them to view and manage their character outside of game sessions.  Other notes- you should be able to use a simple search bar to add items into the sheet inventory.  Without needing to open the full compendium. Drag and drop functionality does not work for mobile. Handle items differently. Again, recreate Dnd beyond functionality. 

Hey Henry F., people can already view and manage their characters outside of game sessions from their Characters page. But I agree an app would be handy…

Oh yeah for sure, but in my experience more casual players need it really served up for them. They are likely gonna forget how to get there and never use it unless they have a dedicated app lol. 

On the phone I can make a Category in Notes but the non-existing “button” to add any actual notes is really just poking in the dark…

I’ve been trying the mobile browser version mainly as a player managing my character during in-person sessions , and overall it’s actually pretty convenient. Having the sheet open on my phone while the map or VTT is running on a laptop or TV feels like a really nice hybrid setup. One thing that’s working well for me is quick stat checks and rolling simple things without needing to zoom around the full VTT interface. That part feels much smoother on mobile than trying to run the whole tabletop. A couple things I’d love to see improved though: Faster sheet loading , especially for higher-level characters with lots of spells or abilities. Better navigation between sections (abilities, spells, inventory) without needing multiple taps. Maybe a compact “combat mode” view for phones that just shows HP, conditions, attacks, and spell slots. Overall though I like the direction this is going. If the mobile character manager keeps improving, I could definitely see my group relying on it during hybrid or physical table sessions instead of juggling PDFs or other apps. Curious how other groups are using it— phone for sheets + laptop for VTT , or just phone-only play? 👀
