Player Created Map Pins

I'm running a west march game and have a large hexmap for players to explore. At the moment I have to manually create a map pin myself for every addition, but I want it to be a player-created, collaborative effort on their part instead of it all having to be filtered through me. Giving players the ability to make map pins, and allow the DM to toggle whether or not player map pins are shareable in their game would allow this feature without giving too much power to the players in games where this would be inappropriate.
