Token Reference [ Video Demo ] Available in One Click Install on your Mods page. This Mod is a bit niche, admittedly. Most Roll20 modules come with a token page, showing all monsters and NPCs in the adventure. Some of these tokens represent individual character sheets. However there may be ten different tokens that reference a single sheet. Like ten commoners all with different names and tokens. If you use the Director script, this is the sort of token I refer to as a variant. If you use the Supernotes script, you may have gotten into the habit of keeping that character's notes on their token, rather than on a common sheet. (You see what I meant about niche?) All that Token Reference does is give you a script command that can send those notes to chat. It works very similarly to Supernotes, and will obey Supernotes' convention of using five dashes to separate public from GM-only information. The reason for this script is so that you can embed the command into a journal, slowing you to quickly reference a token page token by putting a link to it in the journal. TokenReference Help Command: !tokenref <token name> Displays a formatted reference card for a token on a page named "Token Page". The primary use of this script is for providing links in handouts. By putting the command into the link of text in handout, you can send a reference to an established PC or NPC to chat. Behavior: Matches token names exactly (case-insensitive) Shows token image and GM notes GM notes are truncated at ----- for players. This conforms with the Supernotes script behavior. Markdown-style links are converted to clickable links GM Features: Sees full GM notes Character link shows actual character name Player Features: Sees truncated notes (if applicable) Character link labeled "Character Sheet" • If a player does not have permissions, they cannot open the link. Example: !tokenref Will Bardlet Will Bardlet is a token on the token page that represents a commoner character sheet. His token GMnotes and token image differentiate him from other commoners. The GM has decided he will be referenced during a murder investigation the players are undertaking. When he writes Will's name in the adventure text, clicking it will call up his notes and image. Will Bardlet is a playwright at the city theater. The GM has a handout for the theater, and puts the link for Bardlet into the text of a handout or pin the players can access. They can click it to see the image and the player facing information.
