What we're looking for: New/er players wanting to learn and be a part of 2e D&D- but open-minded enjoyers of the genre are welcome! I am re-entering the 2nd ED ruleset- and have gamed countless hours of this in my past, as well as several other rulesets. . .  We have mostly newer players to 2nd ED D&D - and I wanted to expose them to the "old school" D&D and work up through to 3.5. Our first "0" game is Friday May 15 at 8PM CST- and we can start very soon after it starts once players are situated. How this game will run & Setting: I am a Christian DM/GM, but this is not a sanitized or cartoonish world. Mature themes such as violence, murder, vengeance, greed, fear, alcohol, corruption, and the consequences of human choices will exist naturally within the setting and story. Actions carry weight, and the world responds accordingly. This campaign leans toward Low to Low-Medium Fantasy with a grounded, gritty atmosphere inspired more by harsh medieval frontier life and historical cultures than exaggerated high fantasy. The world is worn, weathered, and believable—not a bright, glittering landscape overflowing with spectacle and endless magic. Armor is heavy, winters are cruel, roads are dangerous, and most people live hard lives close to the edge of survival. Popular media you may relate this to include Kingdom Come Deliverance, Mount & Blade, The Witcher, A kingdom of Ice and Fire.  Magic exists, but it is uncommon and often feared or misunderstood. Wizards exist- but come from prestigious schools and secluded havens. Sorcerers exist- but are often reclusive or living in universities honing their raw powers. Enchanted weapons are rare treasures, monsters are deadly, and survival is never guaranteed. Gold is hard-earned, supplies matter, and the wilderness is indifferent to your survival. The setting places you in the shadowed northern reaches of Faerûn, beneath the distant gaze of the Spine of the World. It is early morning in the last days of winter- ice clings to teh limestone boulders and marble outcroppings. A distant greyish keep and its villages are becoming clearer every step. . .Beyond the safety of isolated fortlets and struggling villages lie the ancient forests of Lurkwood, abandoned strongholds dot the hidden crevasses in the mountains, forgotten barrows are overgrown with wild saplings and strong oaks, and cavern systems where darkness has taken root- provide great opportunity.  Take note: Death comes easily to the foolish, the arrogant, and the unprepared. Those who endure may carve their names into the memory of the North. Your Application: I'd like to get to know you. Please, respond to the below prompts and I'll be in touch! What’s your experience with Dungeons & Dragons/Tabletop RPGs? What kind of playstyle do you enjoy most? (Roleplay, combat, exploration, puzzles, etc.) What are you looking for in a campaign? How serious or casual do you like the tone of the game? What kind of characters do you usually enjoy playing? How do you handle teamwork and party conflict? What days/times are you usually available? Do you have any hard limits or topics you’d prefer to avoid in-game? Is there anything else you’d like the group/DM to know about you as a player? Thanks!
