When I click on a character sheet and roll from there, everything rolls double: 2d20 on an attack roll, etc... Also, the dice don't go away, so they are cluttering the gameboard. Also, doesn't post to chat.
The first part might be a script mistake in the character sheet but the second part sounds like a possible bug so I passed this on to the other mods and devs.
I can't find a way to change the script in the character sheet. It rolls double for everything: damage, attack rolls etc.. Any idea how I can change this?
It is 5e. The problem is if the roll doesn't have advantage or disadvantage, which one do you use? I can imagine the heated arguments with the players now.
The sheet author intended for you to use the first result in the chat window if the roll has neither advantage nor disadvantage. However, if the dice aren't going away or posting to chat, that is definitely a bug! What happens if you disable 3d dice and try rolling from the sheet? What happens if you roll manually with 3d dice turned on?
The 3d dice hanging may be a result of a bad roll command or modifiers. Please turn the 3d dice off and roll. If it provides an error (or nothing happens) then something in the roll is breaking it. In that case please post the entire roll including all modifiers.
Using google chrome. When I roll from the chat window, no problem. I have the 5e character sheet open and I roll from 2 areas: weapons sheet (attack) and abilities. Both rolls are double, the dice don't go away and don't post to chat. Doesn't matter what roll it is as it happens with all characters, some with modifiers and some without. I disabled the advanced dice feature, same problem. Disabled the 3d dice and rolled through the character sheet and nothing happens. Why not just roll from the chat window? It's very convenient and fast to have the stats on the sheet and roll from there so as not to look them up.
Just to check: You are using the completed 5e sheet, not the D&D Next Playtest sheet? I just tested a few rolls on the full 5e sheet, and the macros are, at least, not broken in the general case.
FYI - <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/DnD5e_Character_Sheet#FAQ" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/DnD5e_Character_Sheet#FAQ</a> The very first question in the FAQ is what you need. The double d20 rolls are for the attack rolls for advantage/disadvantage.....the second damage roll is for the additional damage done if the attack was a crit. This is all made clear in the chat output. I agree that this doesnt work well for those that use 3d dice but I believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks here. The problem you are having with the dice not being removed from the board and it not reporting to chat I cannot replicate...though there are others also seeing the same problem (not clear whether they are using the 5e sheet though)- <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1274127/stuck-on" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1274127/stuck-on</a>... Can you post a screenshot of an example character sheet where you are having problems? Specifically i'd want to see the Core stats page, the weapons page, and the class page of the sheet as thats where the majority of autocalculated fields are driven from. Finally, is this a problem you are having on an existing campaign that previously had either a different sheet being used or some attributes added to it? or is it a brand new campaign with no history? Older attributes either from other sheets (including the DnD Next playtest one!) or that have been manually added can cause problems if their names conflict with those on the 5e sheet
I chose 5e from campaign settings. There should an option to shut off the double roll I think. In any case, I have no way of rolling from the cgaracter sheet anyway. The character sheets with this problem are not imported or even modified. I click create character, then go to weapons, then the attack button. I have also tried rolling from sheets where I have entered attack stats with the same results. I used to be able to roll from the abilities stat by entering the die roll but now even that is producing the problem of the dice not clearing. I don't have time to take screenshots and all that. Sorry.
I think I got it. My friends joined the campaign and created characters and I can roll through their character sheets just fine. I created some NPC's and used the player sheet format. I think the missing info I wasn't filling out may have been causing the error. Funny enough, if I roll with the NPC character I created first, then roll with my group's characters, their dice then start to stay on the board as well. It seems almost like there is some unfinished issue to be calculated that doesn't allow the dice to clear? I don't know. I will try remaking the NPC's with NPC format and see what happens.
Yes, when the roll isn't correctly formatted it can get stuck if an error isn't kicked out. This is a known issue and why I was asking you to turn off the 3d dice and try to roll. Whenever you get a bug like this always turn off the bells and whistles (such as 3d dice) and see if it works. If it doesn't work that way then you know the problem is not with the bells and whistles.
There is no option to disable the double roll I'm afraid as that would require API scripting which would mean the sheet would only be available to mentor level campaigns. If you can find the time to take a quick screenshot or two then it would help to identify what caused the problem so others can avoid the same mistakes. If not, don't worry, glad you got things working again. the wiki page I linked above has more faq's too so take a look at that first if you have any other issues or questions as you may find its a common lo asked thing (like the double roll)
