How to: Monster template import

Hello there I have the issue that I want to import a statblock formatted as a text file into Roll20 DnD 5.5e. the mod 5e Shaped Companion Script, seems to have issues I am getting a error: "5eShapedCompanion 1780678545079 ERROR : Couldn't find Shaped Character Sheet. This Shaped Companion Script requires the Shaped Character Sheet to be installed in the campaign." as i have old and new char sheets in the campain i get that there might be issues. or better said, the internal format problay has changed.  So either wait to have the dev work on it. which atm i amnot sure about. is there another option out there? ohter import tools? or make one myself. any suggestions`? B.

Hi Baro B.,  Which character sheet are you using?  There is no character sheet called "Roll20 DnD 5.5e", unless you mean the D&D 5e 2014/2024 by Roll20 character sheet?
The script you are referencing is only designed to work with the "D&D 5E (Shaped)" sheet. It will not work with the D&D 5E by Roll20 (2024) sheet. Also, the script's last update is 10 years ago, so it's possible that it no longer works at all. I haven't used it, so I don't know anything else about it.

Hi Jarren, that is the one thing. there is no update timeframe visible.. that is the one thing that Roll20 could include in the mods.. to see how old something is 10 years.. wow.. then working is not really there anymore.  and I am playing with a converted 2024 campaign.. with the old 2014 sheets active. --> prob reason for the problem i'd guess
It looks like this script is no longer being maintained, because the D&D 5E (Shaped) sheet is not being maintained either. The information that displays before adding the script says:  This is a script designed for use with the API on the Roll20 Virtual Table Top . This script is specifically designed to provide services and enhancements for the 5e Shaped Character Sheet by Roll20 user Kryx. It will not work with any other character sheet such as the Roll20 5e OGL character sheet. If you report bugs/ask for help while trying to use the script with a different character sheet you will be ignored with extreme prejudice! Roll20 staff/devs didn't create this script, so any information about the script (such as when it was last updated) would have to be provided by the script author.
Hi Jarren I know that, and it find it surprising that there is no official import tool from Roll20.  or is there one from Roll20? or is there another statblock importer? thnx for infos B.

Hi Baro B.,&nbsp; To confirm, you are using the D&amp;D 5e 2014 by Roll20 character sheet? And you are using D&amp;D 5e 2024 Monster Manual creatures?&nbsp; If so, you should be able to find most of them via the Free Basic Rules if you don't have the book in Roll20.&nbsp; Regarding statblock converters, Roll20 does not produce things like that. The community does.&nbsp; With that said, if you have a JSON of a statblock then an API Script can work to bring the statblock into the 2014 sheet.&nbsp; Here is an example of such a script (I don't know if it works or not).&nbsp; <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/12381718/script-5e-npc-importer-via-json-evolution-of-text-based-importers" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/12381718/script-5e-npc-importer-via-json-evolution-of-text-based-importers</a>

Hi Gauss, I am using the old 2014 char sheets for the players and the monsters are the old sheets with maybe one or two in teh new format.&nbsp; i'd import as the old format for the npcs/monsters..&nbsp; I dont need the flashy stuff. i have tried importing the script you have suggested. and am getitng the following : No existing sandbox found.&nbsp; Preparing sandbox to start on game activity. So that seems to work.&nbsp; I am not really happy with the forum UI - searching has no date information, nor can you filter by anything.&nbsp; , and also that a customer has to program a basic function in Roll20 (I count importing a NPC statblock into Roll20 as a basic function that should be supplied) regards &nbsp;Baro

Could you clarify what the source of the NPCs/Monsters is? D&amp;D Beyond for example? In any case, if it is 2024 you can still use the 2024 NPC/Monster content on Roll20 in the 2014 sheets. As for importing an NPC statblock into Roll20, I am just a Forum Champion (ie: user). I am not Roll20 staff. But, I suspect that providing a quick and easy way to supply statblocks like that would become an IP issue.&nbsp;&nbsp; When we do it via API it is different than if Roll20 does it.
