A group of 4 with characters of animal-based species searching for a DM

So I've recently managed to form a group with 3 other players willing to join me in a campaign. The requirement was that they should have a character of an animal-based species. Fortunately, they've met the requirements and the group will consist of an Owlin, a Kenku, a Lizardfolk and (likely) a Tabaxi. But before the game can truly start, a DM is needed. And surprise, surprise, we're yet to find a DM. Considering some of us have some experience with D&D and some don't, it'd be cool if a DM could suggest a campaign setting for us that puts quite a lot of focus on roleplaying but doesn't completely avoid combat. Oh, and considering we could probably use both Roll20 and D&D Beyond, it'd be cool if the DM had access to Monsters of the Multiverse and Strixhaven (the latter one in case I don't decide to buy the digital version of Strixhaven) and had a master tier subscription there so that access to those books could be shared for other party members. As for the time, we're in different time zones. Those vary from MST to EST and even CET. I believe I'm the only one from Central Europe in that party, so I'm going to refer to time according to my time zone in the next sentences. The desired time of sessions would be on weekly basis during the weekends, starting from Fridays to Sundays. On Fridays I'm free from 4 pm to 9 pm. Saturdays are pretty much free for me as I'll be available from 8 am to 9 pm. Sundays - from 8 am to 4 pm. Technically, I'd be free all day long on Sunday too, but I don't know when the campaign I've been a part of so far will return as it's currently on hiatus. Hey Cyril this sounds really cool! We run a discord West Marches styled Dnd 5e 2014 server that I think might fit your need, post games that match the schedule of your group but in between games you can send your characters on adventures throughout the World of Aspirion with other groups of adventurers. Building up your stores of gold, magic items, and tall tales for when you regroup as 4. It is a wonderful way to play DnD, I cannot overhype it enough, but I am quite biased. Hey. Thanks for the interest in my listing. Unfortunately, a long-term campaign would be preferred. While I understand the concept of west marches, it isn't a preferred type of a campaign. The reason is that with this type of a character I'm going to play as, I don't think I'd feel comfortable being a part of a party with characters that aren't of animal-based races. With a west marches game that could, unfortunately, be a possibility. That's why I cannot accept this offer.

With your emphasis on animal themed characters, I would highly suggest you look into the Humblewood setting. It is set in a world made entirely of anthropomorphic woodland creatures and has a pretty decent lore structure already set up. The base campaign in the book goes from 1-5 and I do understand that there is other content for playing further past those levels. As for the DM part, I am possibly interested. Currently looking to get back into the swing of things and maybe eventually set up a paid game. Need to work off the rust first though, and a I think a medium length campaign would be a good way to do that. My time zone is 5 hours behind yours though, so we would need to figure that out. What say you to this?

Now that you're talking about that, it'd make so much sense to go for Humblewood. Though considering it's meant to go from 1-5, a question that pops up in my mind is "what next?" Not that I'd personally have something against going to just lower levels (it isn't necessary for a character to reach level 20, like c'mon), but maybe a plan for something beyond would be needed then? The DM-ing part is a dealbreaker though. I've essentially put this listing in the category of free games and I and the rest of the group would rather have a free game than a paid game. The size of a campaign wouldn't be a problem (as long as it's not a one-shot), but if the game goes into the paid category, then that's where the line would be drawn.

I think you misunderstood. I intend to run a free game. My goal is to work up to a quality where I feel comfortable charging for my services. But I need more practice to do so, and thus would run a campaign or two on Roll20 before I felt I was ready.

Ah, I see now. Yeah, for a moment I wasn't sure what you meant when you wrote that bit about eventually setting up a paid game. Thanks for clarification. Just to be clear, yesterday, on one of the servers where I wrote about my listing, someone expressed interest in DM-ing us and it looks like we might be going with them. So far they've explained the setting of the campaign of their choice and had a talk with our group. If we eventually make our minds to go with that DM or not, I'll let you know.

I am so glad I could clear that up. I do realize I did not do a great job explaining, so my bad.  As for your finding a DM, that's awesome news! Go forth and adventure!

Update: the DM we've found is the one we're going with for an adventure. We're already making character sheets and we're still to make arts of our characters, write backstories and flesh out the rest of the character sheets. The campaign is set in Icewind Dale, so we'll have to make sure our characters don't get any frostbite. As such, I'm closing the thread.
