Looking for new players to join ongoing weekly campaigns. (Inexperienced players are welcome, just read atleast the campaign info below and the blurps at the very bottom to make sure it's a fit for you.) All applicants must be 18+ age just because of the potential for darker content in the setting. Current groups both started with 5 players and have played together with good vibes and chemistry since 19.3. and 20.3. of this year, but a few players have had to drop out at various times due to scheduling issues. Decided to post an overall roster fill recruitment since one of the games dropped to 3 players, the other is at 4 players, and 4 is my preferred minimum. I might not check the listing every day depending on my schedules, so reply times may be over 24 hours. I will be holding a small VC "vibe check" for each new player in Discord before I let them on the actual game server. To apply, please fill out the following information in a reply below, or send me a private message. (If you end up not selected, I will inform you instead of leaving you hanging btw.) Name/Nickname: Age: Applying for (thursday/friday): Playing/GMing Experience: Campaign preferences & wishes: Personal content hardlines, dislikes, pet peeves and group behaviour dealbreakers: Character concept(s): DIscord Username (You can also send it in a private message if you don't want it in public): Questions/Inquiries: Anything additional of note: Remaining Open Spots: Thursday Campaign: 1 (2 Max.) Friday Campaign: 2 (3 Max.) Nether. The world between worlds, also known by many names such as "The Godless Realm" and "The Limitless Plane". Theorized by some to have formed from the remnants of destroyed worlds, dead gods or titans of eons past, and from pieces of existing worlds that vanish or duplicate from their original plane and reappear in the Nether, ever expanding it. Here one may end up joining a Vistani caravan from the dread mists of Ravenloft, desperately fleeing a warband of cackling gnolls across a scorching region of desert from Athas, and stumbling upon a wild, drunken forest rave hosted by a Rakdos cult troupe from Ravnica. All in one day. Time can progress differently between regions, the weather may include magical anomalies, entire empires may progress through their entire lifespans from rise to downfall and ruin without ever reaching their closest neighbours due to the sheer scale of landmasses and oceans. *And the many roaming dangers and anomalies within them...* Landmasses known as the Skylands or (smaller) Skyshards float above, eldritch constellations and vanishing stars roam the ever-changing firmament, and entirely uncharted subterranean oceans can be found within the creeping depths of the Netherdark's underworld. Located "between" every existing realm and plane of the Multiworld, connected to each via the Astral Plane and interdimensional portals, the Nether is truly a material realm of endless mysteries, dangers, horrors and opportunities. it is now your current home world, for better or worse. Whether you're fully Netherborn or ended up here by portal, magical mishap or mysterious death, Netherventures now await you. Campaign Info System: D&D 5e (2014 rules as a baseline, milestone leveling, some homebrew elements like expanded inspiration rules and boons and banes, 2024 content for characters allowed only with strict GM approval case by case upon request.) GM Time Zone: GMT +3 (Finland Summer Time, Europe. Note that it changes to GMT+2 in winter which may change the game time by +/-1 hour depending on where you live.) Game Days and time (Based on Finland's timezone): 4PM on Thursdays (Netherwolves), 4PM on Fridays (Horrendous Appetites) Average session duration: 4 hours (breaks included, usually 1-3 per session. 3 hours+ effective game time.) Players/campaign: 4-6. (Intended for 5 as optimal, but can run for 6 if group dynamics work and there are enough applicants.) Players from my other campaigns may pop in to VC as silent audience members, since all my games take place in the same multiworld and they're a curious lot. Campaign Strcture & Themes: RP-focused, slower paced, detail-oriented, mature. Plenty of humor in-character and OOC banter. Combat not guaranteed for every session. Some sessions may be only combat. Depends a lot on what the party decides to do and focus on. Text RP between sessions on the server is possible but entirely up to the players. Character Guidelines:  Don't make your character into a "stupid evil" knobhead twat, a pointlessly difficult lone wolf, a childish cutesy character from an idol anime or a complete non-adventurer. Team-player characters work best for both campaigns, even if they're evil by alignment. Read the blurps below and make sure your character concept fits the setting. Both parties lean somewhat from neutral towards good alignment and exhibit mostly civilized, reasonable behaviour towards NPCs even if they have their own angles to play and sometimes hidden reasons for their actions.  Joining the Campaigns: New players on the server are invited to listen in on one game before joining in play, just to get a feel for the group vibe and pacing (not mandatory but recommended). New session 0 will be held with all old and new players of the group once all spots are filled, to go over the basics and make introductions before new players join the campaign. After session 0, the new players will start off as "guest" characters for the first 3 sessions to test out their character RP and build within the group. After the 3 sessions (assuming there are no issues) the new players can just seamlessly continue with the same character, edit/tweak their character if they feel the need, or swap to a new character. IF the new players want, I can also run their characters an introductory one-shot as a prologue to get them introduced into the setting and campaign before they meet the party. Materials used: Everything official (Wikidot-guideline), UA/Homebrew on approval basis, just about everything 3rd party with GM approval. Lore-wise Netherventures mixes in a lot of existing official and 3rd party D&D-settings with varying levels of technology, magic and advancement, and many non-D&D IPs with mature themes and content such as Dragon Age, Legacy of Kain, ASOIAF, Shadow of the Demon Lord, Tainted Grail, the Thief-series+The Dark Mod etc. (Many common fantasy franchises such as LotR, Warcraft or the Souls-series are not included due to GM's preferences and/or unfamiliarity with material. Ask about lore-inclusion if you have a character idea from a specific non-D&D setting to see if it's viable.) Requirements: Fluent english, Discord+microphone, Roll20-account, good attitude, preferably a sense of humor. Discord server is the main communication method. Players must participate in VC to join, since mixing VC players and text-based players easily creates pacing imbalances and becomes a hassle for the GM. Players are expected to keep their own notes about anything and everything related to their own character atleast, since the GM has plenty to juggle already and these are free-to-play games. Content Warnings: Yes. Depends on the players and campaign themes (Currently both groups have some darker fantasy content in campaigns but mostly regular D&D.) Romance RP between PC-NPC or PC-PC is allowed, but obviously only if all parties agree and keep it on the level. Creeps or "That Guy" types of any kind will get booted, and real fast. Character level: 4. Multiclassing allowed. Stats rolled via 4d6 (drop lowest), standard array or point buy. Additional starting feat for level 1, baseline character creation starting equipment and a d100-roll for a minor magical trinket if the player wants one. Netherventures is intended as a continuous. long-term duo of campaigns that share their setting with one another and all my other games. Below are short blurps about the current thursday & friday campaigns you'd be joining, with the party names: Thursday - Netherwolves. Finbarr's Freehold is an "independent", lush and resource-rich region in western parts of the continent of Elkronas. The Freehold currently stands as the only (reasonably) viable route to the further western Ederfast WIlds (ambitiously called the "Ederfast Frontier" by locals). The Freehold is split into two distinct regions, Finbarr's Marshes to the north and the Finbarr's Vale to the south. The whole area has seen a significant increase in new settlements, immigration and refugees from other lands of Elkronas in recent years, with the ruling House Finbarr maintaining a semblance of order, common law and unity with the help of their vassal troops and their Dragonlord allies, several refugees from House Blackfyre with their few drakes and wyverns. In recent days odd rumors have begun circulating in the southern parts of the Vale, about a new rising threat to the south. An odd band of newcomers are making their rounds from settlement to settlement, delivering dark tidings of coming conflict from Fort Frontier, as the more commonly known threats of the Vale's Barrow Wights, feral Goblins and Harpy covens rear their ugly head with renewed fervor as well... So naturally this is the time when every little faction and settlement within the Vale starts to get angry at their neighbours, and local troubles plague every hamlet and fortress. Friday - Horrendous Appetites. The Cauldron. Unknown and largely inaccessible to outsiders, this accursed and unforgiving region of the southeastern deserts of Elkronas acts as the stage for an ancient, revolving conflict so terrible that some (supposedly) godlike power (allegedly) sealed the entire area away from the rest of Elkronas beyond a few guarded paths in the Netherdark. The magical sandstorms in the region can rend flesh from bones, and most of the water available is scarce, often tainted by fell magics, and saltier than seawater. The surface is mostly covered in scorching deserts full of roaming monstrosities and undead gnawing on sand-bleached bones and each other. There are jagged, rocky badlands with haunted ruins, with occasional muddy spots of withered jungles and scarce oases offering the tiniest specks of life to survive, if not fully prosper. This is the current domain of the feral Gnolls. Underneath, in the Cauldron's Netherdark, ancient ruins and dread secrets lie in wait, the dust gathered upon them untouched for centuries or even millenia untold. In their city of Obsidian, dominating the only massive body of fresh water within the entire subterranean region, the Yuan-Ti scheme for their coming rise against the Gnolls and a return to power, while ruthlessly exploiting their Derro sycophants and their thousands of slaves. In this land, two horrifying powers hunger and fight endlessly: Yeenoghu and his ravenous gnolls on one side, on the decline. Merrshaulk and his conniving Yuan-Ti on the other as a rising power.  And then there's every poor bugger stuck in-between, which includes you and yours by the way. As the pendulum of this unending conflict between *two* (supposed) Demon Lords swings and the curse of these lands turns to favour the snakemen for the next era, mysterious powers begin lightly tugging on the strings of fate, with newcomers from various worlds appearing within the Cauldron, soon hunted by the roused and dreaded Third. Good luck.
