I'm looking for a small group of players interested in helping me playtest a tabletop RPG system I've been developing. This is not a finished commercial game , and I'm not looking for people to simply show up and play a campaign. I'm specifically looking for playtesters who enjoy trying new systems, building characters, experimenting with mechanics, and giving useful feedback afterward. What Kind of Game Is It? The system is a non-d20 fantasy RPG designed around giving players flexibility in how they build and play their characters. Rather than relying heavily on predefined classes and rigid action choices, the system is intended to give players room to describe what they want their character to do and how they attempt it , with the mechanics supporting those choices. Combat, social encounters, exploration, martial abilities, and magic are all areas I want to put through actual player testing. You do not need previous playtesting experience. What I'm Looking For I'm looking for players who: Enjoy learning and experimenting with new game systems. Are willing to build characters rather than being handed pregenerated ones. Can explain what they liked and what they didn't like . Can distinguish between "I don't personally like this mechanic" and "this mechanic isn't working." Are willing to try the rules as written before suggesting changes. Can disagree with the designer or other players respectfully. Are comfortable with rules occasionally changing between tests. Understand that discovering something that is broken, confusing, exploitable, or simply not fun is a successful playtest result . I absolutely want criticism. I don't need people telling me everything is great. At the same time, I'm looking for people who are interested in helping improve a game , rather than proving that another system is better or deliberately disrupting the test. What Playtesting Will Involve Early testing will focus primarily on: Character Creation – Can a new player understand the system and build the character they actually want? Mechanical Testing – Combat, abilities, resources, teamwork, and different character approaches. Short Scenarios – These will generally be encounters or small adventures designed to test specific parts of the game rather than a long-running campaign. Feedback – After sessions, I'll ask what worked, what didn't, what was confusing, and what you would change. If the group works well together, this could develop into more extensive campaign-style testing later. Interested? I'm mostly looking for thoughtful, reliable people who enjoy experimenting with RPG mechanics and can give constructive feedback. Rules lawyers are welcome. Rules prosecutors are not.
