I've been reading the chonky tome full of immaculately selected artistic production (and bountiful exposition) that is Trevor Devall's now digitally released RPG, and it's time to get stuck in. There are solo rules, which may be the sound process by which one may both organically build a campaign setting, including "the voice of it" (the saturated and practiced familiarity with describing and representing it), but, more pertinently, proceed toward being comfortable enough to satisfactorily run a campaign in a new system and all its Simulationist mechanics, and things DO seem crafted for smoother running than other robust game systems like perhaps Mythras or various versions of Warhammer Fantasy... Check out the YouTube overviews of the game system on Trevor's YouTube channel (Me Myself and Die!), or a gradually accumulating list of those introducing the game, making new characters, solo gaming, showing examples of poor dudes getting mangled by wolves lol. But what if we learned through solo gaming... but... TOGETHER? :) Anyone feel like giving it a go? I'm basically in EST evenings, so things will go smoother if that schedule aligns, but doing this by posted text messages would be my intention here. One on one casual low prep learning the rules as we go. And if things stick and work out, we could have it continue and/or have those solo story paths cross to form a group from that organic basis. No need for politics, approval of each other outside the game, making any unrelated points, or any complications. Just focus on fooling around with this game system. Posts made on whatever platform. I have form fillable TBE character sheets and we could drop those on many sorts of platforms. Roll20 here seems fine for messing around with the zone combat system. I'd hope for interaction, not laborious activity, just about every day. Less than the time we already spend doomscrolling, and no need for it to be anymore difficult than that. What do you think? Just do it?
