Gauss, If it helps, I created a brand new game (DnD 5e 2024 character sheet), created a brand new 1st level fighter, dragged the quarterstaff to inventory, clicked on the generated attack entry, both with auto roll turned off, and on. The autoroll does NOT add in the ability modifier to the damage, but the damage botton (wither from the attack entry, or the one in the chat with the attack, does add the ability modifier to the damage. I did not edit the entry from the default generated, and have not added any MODs, not sure how much cleaner a game I could get.
