I'm Alex (33M) from the central US (CST), and I'm looking for 4 players to start a whimsical D&D campaign using the Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass setting. While I'm happy to interview anyone who is interested, I would like to prioritize players who already know each other. That said, beginners are absolutely welcome and encouraged to apply! We'll be using Roll20 for the game and Discord for voice communication, so a working PC and a clear microphone are required. Before selecting the final group, all applicants will participate in a Level 1 One Shot with other potential players. Space will be limited, and I expect there will likely be quite a few people interested in joining. Unfortunately, that means not everyone will be selected. The One Shot is also meant to be a chance for everyone to see how I DM and decide whether my style is something they enjoy before committing to a full campaign. The campaign itself will be very whimsical, with a greater focus on roleplay and exploration than combat. Obojima has a setting that I would describe as a mix between Studio Ghibli and Zelda. The island has two overlapping realms, the Physical Realm and the Spirit Realm, which creates a lot of opportunities for some strange and interesting adventures. There are also region specific subclasses available to players, along with some additional character creation restrictions due to the nature of the setting. I'll go over those details with the players who are selected. I plan for the campaign to use milestone leveling and run approximately from levels 1 through 12. This will be my first time running a campaign that I've designed entirely from scratch, so I ask that everyone be patient with me. I'm sure I'll mess things up along the way, but I'll do my best to learn from those mistakes and improve between sessions. Feedback after sessions is always appreciated. One of my biggest pet peeves as a DM is when players wait until the last minute to complete things that are needed from them. I'd also ask that everyone make an effort to be on time and avoid being distracted by other things during the session. I'm putting a lot of time into preparing this campaign, and I'd like everyone to be willing to put in a similar level of effort.
