Hello
Since the
Performance Enhancement is about to become mandatory, I feel it is
time I make a plea to save my worldmap.
This is my
worldmap :
A big
foreground image with few details, rivers, seas, some mountains and
forests. Some geopolitical informations such a countries names and
other far away rumours.
Underneath,
is a detailed map, with every cities, roads, towns, bridges,
lighthouses, watchtowers, fields and other details...
The idea
is, as I place lights, where players have travelled ,
it reveals details of the background
map
through the foreground image.
My
players can always know some amount of geographical far away
informations, but can then know every details of the places they
travel to.
I even
have some "lights" setup as night
vision
for a specific player, to show where their character have travelled
without the rest of the group.
The map options :
The
foreground image :
A
8MB jpeg, setup as a "as darkness" element in the
foreground layer.
The main
detailed map :
A 28MB
jpeg set up on the map layer.
The lights
:
Tokens
with simple light options.
Tokens
with night visions, given to a specific player, and locked in place.
nothing
fancy.
This all work great as long as every participants have check
OFF the “performance enhancement” option . An y player/GM with the option enabled, will only see the foreground. They can still interact with tokens underneath, but won't see the map as intended. I can manually change things (like removing and adding back the foreground token ) so that they see things as intended, but as soon as anyone reload the page for any reason (switching map, F5…) I have to do the silly manual thing again to set it right. We’ve troubleshot this issue with multiple people, PC, IP, Accounts, Browsers… (even went as far as to launch edge… =p ) The only stable “foreground as darkness” we could find was by disabling the “performance enhancement” option for everyone. I hope something can be done, before the option becomes mandatory.
Thanks for your time !
