The Western Reaches is a vast land of fragile civilization, majestic wilderness, and terrible mysteries. This is a game about exploring that land, delving into dangerous ruins, searching for valuable treasures, and trying to make your name in an unforgiving world. What is this game? We will be playing in the Western Reaches setting, as recently released via kickstarter. The setting is meant as a huge sandbox, where you as players can pick what rumours, mysteries, and plots interest you and explore the world. The Reaches has many distinct and varied regions; the scorching hot Red Sands, the ancient cursed forest of the Gloaming, and the icy fjords of the Isles of Andrik, to name but a few. When we start the game we can discuss as a group what region you are most interested in starting in. The game itself will be heavily exploration focused. You will be following leads, traversing the wilderness, discovering incredible locations, and then delving into the dungeons you find, before returning to civilization to sell your treasures. What is Shadowdark? Shadowdark is a dnd-like d20 system centered around old-school style dungeon crawling. The system is very straightforward so don't worry if you haven't played it before. The basic mechanics are the same as dnd: d20+modifier against a target number. The game is NOT about 'character builds' and heroic power fantasy. It is more about the choices you make whilst exploring the dungeons, and trying to survive the dangers and horrors you inevitably face. How will we play? We will use discord for voice chat and keeping up with things between sessions. I will go over play expectations, and generally how I will run the game during the first session. When will we play? Tuesdays, 7pm GMT (UK time) every week. Sessions will last 2-3 hours. Who is this game for? This game is for people that really enjoy exploration and discovery, and don't mind their characters dying horribly on occasion. Game listing: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/452048/western-reaches
