Party begins attic exploration of abandoned sea side home, possible source of nearby town hauntings. Kaeoku successfully hides in shadows and is placed into an advantageous position for possible combat. (200 XP) Svava cuts open large sack along north wall, clothes and rags spill out, once were new clothes, neatly folded but now covered in mildew. Vek opens other sack which contains the same contents. Blood bird battle begins... Svava encounters stirges ("giant mosquito-like" monsters) in the southern portion of the massive attic space, swooping down from the darkness above. Adrian hits one in the dark, severing it in half for 11 points of damage! Stirge attacks and attaches itself to Svava for 3 hp damage, and begins to suck blood! Kaeroku uses the staff sling, shooting two stirges for 6 points of damage each, making them wounded and barely alive. Adrian splatters a stirge with 10hp damage, killing it instantly! Svava cuts off the Strige sucking blood for 5hp. Killing it! Stirge attacks and attaches to Vek for 2 hp of damage. Screaming "Get it off me! Get it off Meeeeee!". Kaeroku shoots sling for an amazing critical hit inflicting 14 hp of damage, splattering the monster and covering everyone in a shower of rancid blood! [ 175 XP for all participants were added to the character sheets, 10% bonus not added for those that qualify] Svava cuts open a leather pouch. A vial rolls out onto the floor. Vek examines nest, finds and opens a cracked leather purse to reveal a ring. Adrian examines stirge dung pile and finds a sealed tube. Vek examines trash pile in south west corner...finds nothing. Kaeoku examines document that appears to be some receipt that says "arms" (100 XP) Party descends from attic to 1st floor... Party descends to ground floor and begins their exploration... Party opens first door on right in east wing. Vek determines mushrooms around fireplace are common in nature. Adrian sifts through plaster pile in last room and finds nothing. Kaeroku searches for traps and finds none. Svava learns mushrooms are edible. Vek casts cure light wounds on Svava for 8 hp. (100 XP) Adrian opens first room on right up north hallway. Svava listens and hears noise to the north. (200 XP) Adrian opens the door to north east corner area and finds stairs going down. Vek assists Skordala in searching the cavity in the fireplace chimney to find a small leather pouch with an amethyst. Adrian and Kaeroku descend the stairs to the sound of screams...Adrian is affected by the screams and drops his weapon out of fear. Party begins cellar exploration... Svava determines male corpse was back stabbed had been dead for a month. Skordala examines the south metal refuse bin and finds nothing. Adrian visually examines the male corpse wearing new plate mail armor. Svava inspects female corpse who is unarmed, facing up, with wounds on her back, has been dead for approximately 1 month as well. Svava speculates there may have been multiple attackers. (100 XP) Vek says a prayer over the male corpse, and then inspects for personal affects. (100 XP) As soon as Vek touches the male corpse, he is instantly attacked and infected with 7 rot grubs, burrowing into his arm, making their way toward his heart! Torch fire is applied (100 XP for Vek's fire idea) along with four cure light wounds from Skordala (400 XP), to keep Vek alive while killing the rot grubs burrowing inside him! Skordala applies cure light wounds potion bringing Vek to full health (Player Loot handout potion count edited) Skordala checks female corpse for rot grubs with live rat but none are found. (100 XP) Svava douses corpses with vinegar (old wine) attempting to drive out any possible rot grubs but there is no movement (100 XP) Skordala, confident there are no more life threatening rot grubs in the dead bodies, searches the corpses but finds nothing. Kaeroku finds secret door while examining cellar fireplace (200 XP). Party enters massive room in a hidden area of the home with 10 beds, a large conference table, and fresh food. Kaeroku successfully hides in shadows under stairs in preparation for combat. (200 XP). Svava hears movement in far east room (200 XP). Skordala searches footlocker and bed. Human male clothing found. Adrian removes east door barricade with the word "Danger" written in chalk on it, and enters, suddenly surrounded by 6 skeletons. Adrian kills a skeleton with 6 hp of damage. Vek sucessfully turns the skeletons! (100 XP) Skordala casts cure light wounds on Adrian for 7 hp. (100 XP) Svava chants. Adrian lays hands on self for 2 hp. (100 XP) Svava successfully induces a +1 to hit effect (from chant) to all party members. (200 XP) Skordala enters room and hits skeleton for 3 hp injuring it. Svava hits injured skeleton for 4 hp of damage killing it! Adrian enters room and hits for 6 hp and kills a skeleton! Svava intimidates a skeleton to block later. Skeletons are cornered and attack Adrian for 4 hp of damage. Vek casts cure light wounds on Adrian for 3 hp. (200 XP) Adrian hits a skeleton for 11 hp smashing it to pieces! Kaeroku rolls a critical for 14 hp of damage shattering a skeleton! Vek hits wounded skeleton killing it instantly for 1 hp. Svava hits last skeleton for 3 hp of damage killing it! With these latest developments, what does it all mean?
