Beginner looking for D&D 1E Group

Funny how I found D&D but never played it. I've played rpgs mostly through video games along with the choose your own adventure books. I own Zombies! A nice little rpg card game. Anyway my friend was cleaning out his basement and gave it to me. It was for a yard sale and he just came across it. Didn't belong to him either. Whoever lived there before just left it behind. The red box starter kit, some plastic figurines, and two books. There were 20 figurines I think. Maybe more. The two books were The Adventurer's Vault and The Players Handbook 2. I really want to get into playing with others. But don't know where to start seeing as there aren't many around me that play. Doesn't anyone play on Skype at all or perhaps? I'd like to get into playing it. Instead of letting it sit around and not be used. I am free almost all week and on the weekends unless something comes up in my schedule. Evenings are usually best for me. I hope to play with a group soon!
Would you be interested in playing a D&D 3.5 game? I may be able to work with you on building your character. The only thing would be that I would prefer that you didn't play spell caster classes because of the need to have access to actual Players Hand Book to not bog the game down immensely. If you are at all interested let me know and we can hash out more details like how you picture a game going, what you think you would enjoy most and least, etc...
Google Hangouts too, Ben. There are AD&D players out there.
First thing first you should know that you can get all the OD&D and AD&D books out there online (for free) nowadays, so it doesn't really matter which book you have don't have. Most of all RPG books actually, so the books you physically own shouldn't be a problem, just play whatever RPG you fancy. There are few that sitll play AD&D and even fewer that play with 1st edition rules. Id recommend searching for a group on Dragonsfoot or the various google+ circles as well. Also, keep in mind that there are 2 AD&D "mega-groups" here on roll20 (just use the LFG tool) where you can find people lf player or groups from time to time. Either way, good luck finding a game.
Good point Ederas. I did notice that the books are available online shortly after posting this.
