Questions Regarding the Marketplace

Hi, Long time user first time poster, I wanted to start by saying I LOVE Roll20 I came across it a year or so back and since my GM moved to Australia it has been a lifeline to keep our campaign going on opposite sides of the globe. I recently started a website dedicted to all forms of geekery (theafteractionreport.com) and am writing an article about Roll20. I had some questions regarding the marketplace (things like how you get your art up, what kind of costs are involved, etc.) I couldn't find a FAQ or anything so was wondering if there was a document I could be pointed at? Alternately if there was a contact I could reach out to with my questions directly that'd also be awesome. Thanks, Matt

At the bottom of the marketplace page is a link to Become a Creator . The short of it is: Potential creators email samples their stuff to team@roll20.net to become approved as a creator (samples do not need to be tabletop/Roll20 related); if you're accepted, further instructions and a contract will be given. Creators receive 70% of sales, to be paid on the first week of each month if you're owed more than $25. Selling modules (as opposed to individual art pieces) requires that you own all content in the module. No free Marketplace content* * One of the perks of being a Mentor subscriber is access to a subset of Marketplace content without purchasing it separately. I don't know how that subset is decided upon.
Awesome thanks for the answers! :-) Pretty much covered everything I was hoping for. :-)

If you have specific questions about roll20 itself that you can not find in the wiki or wish to ask the devs for an interview, you can send an email to team@roll20.net Have a nice day.
Thanks very much! I'm going to for sure ask for an interview! The site is new and I'm still getting my footing (only done one interview and that was with a childhood friend) but would love to talk. Thanks again I'll drop you an e-mail directly shortly.

The email goes to the devs not to us mods. Nolan is the one that is usually the PR person but they all are friendly. They are usually extremely busy so it might take them a while to answer you but I never heard of them not doing so.

Actually, I've always been paid regardless, and it's pretty rare that I make more than $25. There's a dropbox to upload things to, but it takes a while (2-3 weeks?) for them to get onto the marketplace from there. There's a separate contract for people who want to sell their art to Roll20 as exclusive mentor content. It involves selling the rights over, with an up-front price given. I've never done it.

My experiences differ... Actually, I've always been paid regardless, and it's pretty rare that I make more than $25. In the close to two years I've had content on the marketplace, only one month did I make less than $25 (I think it was the second or third month of sales). Every month thereafter I've had regular payment of royalties. There's a dropbox to upload things to, but it takes a while (2-3 weeks?) for them to get onto the marketplace from there. While I've never used the dropbox method of uploading, I've rarely waited more than 48 hours before the content was live in the Marketplace.

Yeah, the dropbox thing is fairly new, and it feels like things were faster (from where we artists are sitting--I assume the dropbox method is easier on the devs) before its implementation. More work to upload, yeah, but a better response time.

I'm just condensing what the FAQ page says, Ether. I'm not a Creator myself. =)

No worries! I'm just clarifying bits of it from my experience.
Thanks for all your feedback folks and I just had a great conversation with Nolan and I will be posting my interview shortly (shooting for this Saturday).
