Arthas has been flying a few short minutes when he spots Xhotl and the halflings on a nearby ledge. He guides Hubris to them, and lands. lAs he is filling in Nor about the most recent battle, however, he notices a vine sprout from the ground. Moments later, trees and bushes begin to spring up, growing so fast that they quickly tower over the party. Hubris and Xhotl take to the sky, attempting to outpace the vegetation, but shortly discover more vegetation growing towards them from above! The twin jungles that are forming rings a bell in Arthas's mind. He recalls from his studies that Angazhan's realm, Ahvoth-Kor, is formed from twin jungles that stretch along opposing faces of a vast Abyssal rift. Nor's sharp ears pick up the sound of primate life in the underbrush, further strengthening the companions' conviction that they have somehow been transported there. Meanwhile, the vegetation has grown so thick that the heroes are forced to land, standing upon massive branches as though they were the ground. Moments later, swarms of monkeys pour forth from the vegetation, biting and scratching everything in their path. As they are killed, they are replaced with ever larger simians: first charau-ka warriors, then kech bowmen, then derhii scouts. Arthas fires volleys of arrows into the teeming masses, while Nor and Lor use summoned air elementals to sweep away the smaller foes. Eventually, it becomes clear that this is a war of attrition that the party cannot win. Arthas is knocked unconscious just as monstrous baregara are joining the fight. Realizing that the enemies may well keep multiplying forever, Nor directs one of the air elementals to carry the party members away to safety in a whirlwind. When the whirlwind dissipates, however, the heroes find that they are no longer in the jungle at all. Instead, they have been transported to a fiendish sanctuary, and Angazhan the Ravenous King looms over them. ADEQUATE , booms the demon lord. At this point, a cleric of Angazhan, Yrure’tugala (which Arthas realizes means "Eater of Elves" in Abyssal) steps forward and explains that Angazhan was testing the party, to see if they were as strong as the Ravenous King's servant, Elaryan, had claimed. For their (adequate) performance, the demon lord offers minor belts of giant strength. More importantly, he offers an opportunity to recover, for Angazhan can slow time in his sanctuary while the heroes rest. Arthas refuses the demon lord's prize, and seems ready to also refuse the offer of sanctuary... but at that moment, he is overcome by a seizure. As he flails on the ground, Nor excepts the demons' gracious offer. The heroes are brought to a resting chamber, and discover Elaryan is already there. The sorcerer is pale and unconscious, with a bloody bandage wrapped around his head. "We had to rescue him," Yrure’tugala explains, "and now he is recovering. In the morning, you will all be whole."
