The party wakes in the dark, feeling surprisingly well rested. Arthas illuminates Radiance, revealing their surroundings: they are no longer in Angazhan's temple, but have been teleported to the top of some tower. The dark sky, the howling wind... and the fact that divination spells are not working... all suggest that they are back at Citadel Drezen. Elaryan has rejoined the party, and is conscious, but a strange transformation has overcome the sorcerer. His right eye has been replaced somehow with an engorged, discolored orb. He claims that the new eye allows him to see the entropy that eats at the world: people aging, towers crumbling, the world eventually ground to dust. He seems strangely chipper about the fact, and there doesn't seem to be any other negative consequences, so the party resolves to press on. The heroes descend a flight of stairs into an open air terrace halfway down the tower. Xhotl's keen senses reveal that this was once Soltengrebbe's lair, and sure enough, the companions discover the chimera's hoard. Thousands of coins litter the floor, and magic items are tucked into the rubble. The party spends several minutes grabbing everything, then consult Aron's map. Deciding that they are in the Citadel's main tower, Nor devises a stealthy plan. He descends to the bottom of the stairs alone, then uses stone shape to open up a passage to the planning room where Arthas and Elaryan encountered Joran Vhane. A fiendish minotaur stands guard in the room, and rushes to attack! The other party members rush down the stairs to aid the halfling, as a second minotaur and Joran join the melee. A fierce battle erupts in the tight confines of the stairwell: the minotaurs teleport back and forth, covering the cleric, who casts spells, including a silence spell that neutralizes the party's casters. Realizing that Joran is the true threat, Arthas spurs Hubris past the fiendish sentries into the planning room itself. Unfortunately, the minotaurs manage to grievously wound the paladin as he pushes past. As he enters the chamber, some invisible force strikes him from the saddle, killing him immediately. Moments later, Joran raises him from the dead as a ghast, and Arthas rejoins the battle-- for the wrong side! Unable to cast spells, Elaryan transforms into his bestial form, fighting back-to-back with Xhotl. Even so, it looks like the heroes are outmatched, until Lor draws forth the Teamster token that he won from the Harrow Deck and mentally commands one of the minotaurs to attack its allies. As the fiend complies, the tide of the battle begins to swing the other way. Elaryan finally manages to make it to the bottom of the stairs, and charges into the planning room. As he enters, a beam shoots forth from his baleful eye , revealing a hidden adversary. Staunton Vhane, the paladin who betrayed the Knights of the Pale, has been secretly aiding his brother from the cover of a greater invisibility spell. The demon ape traps Staunton in the corner and beats him to death. Meanwhile, the rest of the party mops up the other enemies. Hubris, enraged at the desecration of his master's body, slays the ghast, while Xhotl and the halflings defeat Joran and the remaining minotaur. Once the dwarves lie dead, Nor uses a mythic raise dead spell to return Arthas to the land of the living, and the heroes turn their attention to a large set of double doors on one end of the room. Using a key from Staunton's body, Arthas opens them, revealing a large staircase leading down into he bowels of the citadel. Everyone who played gains 7,000 XP. Furthermore, the defeat of Staunton and Joran Vhane is considered a successful mythic trial.
