Map Tile Dynamic Lighting Seeding API?

I was thinking about APIs and if there is anything I personally could use from them that would save me more time than that would be spent implementing a script. Now I happen to know nothing about APIs other then it looks really hard. But I did have one thought. Are there any APIs that can automatically seed an object or token placed on the map layer to block light? I'm guessing it would work by taking a lot of the standard generic map tiles and tokens, associating tags with each one that the script queries so when its loaded the script queries the token/tile and when it sees the right tag automatically sizes it correctly and places the light obstructions on it. And when tile/token is moved the script moves it with it. I'm thinking a script that does this would certainly be worth the time it would take for me to learn APIing and implement the script into my campaign. Thank you.

There are two working with two different approaches. API cannot read image library tags (unfortunately.)
