Map and tokens not loading(Firefox)

November 15 (10 years ago)
Hello,
I've recently encountered a problem where when I launch a campaign the map and tokens never load. Instead all I see is a grey background. The chat window appears but I can only scroll up. Here's a picture.

I've followed all the instructions under Solving Technical Issues, but nothing has worked so far.

All my players can see the map fine, regardless of browser. If I open the campaign in Chrome it works fine.

I noticed a few others posting with this same problem, and yes I have an Anti-Virus. I've tried loading the campaign with the Firewall/Antivirus temporarily disabled but that didn't work either.

Here is the console log

Hello Giovanni. Which AV do you have? It has been noted that Nortons and Comodo both cause problems in Firefox (you didn't specify what browser you are using and I can't tell from the screen cap) so can you try Chrome or Opera browser?
November 16 (10 years ago)
I'm using Firefox, should've mentioned it outside of the title.

Like I said, if I switch to Chrome it does work.

I use Norton, but I had disabled both the Firewall and AV to test if it would fix the issue but it didn't

Try this for me: after the game loads (when you're stuck at that screen), the URL in your address bar should be "https://app.roll20.net/editor". Change it to "https://app.roll20.net/editor/?disablewebgl=true" and hit Enter. It should reload the game. Let me know if that fixes it.

Awesome, that worked. It's a graphic API related problem?

It looks like Firefox + Norton AV is somehow messing with your ability to properly run WebGL. I'm planning on looking into this further tomorrow to hopefully fully track down the issue.

Giovanni, we're trying to track down what combination of antivirus and browser is having the issue. What version of the Norton toolbar do you have? You can check this from Firefox by going to Options -> Add Ons -> Extensions. Also, what version of Firefox are you running.

I tried this fix and it works just fine with my firefox too. To me it looks like a temporary fix that should work across all people encountering this issue.

Luke -- Do you have Norton AV installed? If so can you check the version following Steve's instructions above? We're trying to fix this for everyone as you said but we need more info to track down the specific cause.

I have Avast v.9.0.2 installed but currently disabled. Ask to activate prompts of all plugins barring shockwave flash 12 and 15. Should I also provide my webgl config to help narrow this down?

We've added some new code to try and resolve the problem. Please give it another try without using the ?disablewebgl=true tag. If it still doesn't work please repost the console output so we can continue to narrow down the issue.

So when I went to check my Firefox version it decided to update from verison 33.1 to 33.1.1 and the problem is gone.

In case you still need the info- I've always had Norton Toolbar disabled. But it says its on version 2014.7.9.8

Oh, you posted while I was typing up that post. It worked, thank you!
