Unable to access external journal

Hi! I just signed up as a supporter (half because I wanted to use my tablet, half because I think what you guys are doing is great and you deserve support!), but I'm unable to access my journal outside of the game, it says I need to be a supporter or higher still. Is this something that will take some time to enable...?

It should be listed in your campaign tools near the top of the page called "Journal". It should show all your character sheets and handouts created in your campaign. Give it a short bit of time but it should have already upgraded you. If you still don't have access then send an email to team@roll20.net explaining the problem.
I've given it four weeks but it still looks like this...

My bad Scott. I thought I didn't have a link as well and realized I needed to open one of my campaigns to see the campaign tools. What's the point of Journal access outside of the Campaign if you can't edit BTW?
I'm not sure what you mean? It says right there that the external journal feature is only available for supporters or higher, but I am a supporter so shouldn't it show my character's info rather than that bootstrap alert?

Do you have more than one campaign and does this happen on all them?

What's the point of Journal access outside of the Campaign if you can't edit BTW? No worries! I'm actually editing the sheet in the game right now. It doesn't really affect me except it'd be slightly more convenient to be able to do those edits without loading the whole game system. It's more to report a bug so the developers know about it, certainly not a high priority.

I just checked in my Journal outside the game, and editing doesn't seem to be a feature. You can only view the handouts. Not really sure of the advantage. Also, what is the url of the Journal link that shows up for you in the campaign tools? Does it seem to match the URL's of the other campaign tools? A common campaign number perhaps? I just have one campaign. It was started before I became a supporter. Try to create a new one as a test and see if you have the same issue? You might just need to copy your campaign.
Handouts? I should mention, this one campaign I'm in, I'm a player who joined, not the DM or creator. I don't think we even use handouts, we just use the board and characters tools while we're playing D&D 5e in person. Ah, I assumed "External Journal Access" meant everything that is available when you click the 'journal' tab in game would be available in that tab outside the game. For the test campaign I created, it seems to work with headers for Characters and Handouts. Maybe the page is just not meant for players who joined, and the alert doesn't distinguish between non-DMs and non-supporters?

I think you are on to something Scott. Many of the additional features benefit the GM only. I assume that External Journal Access is that way. I'm sure a Dev can make an official comment. It works for you as a GM, so I think it's working as intended.

Footnote taken from the bottom of the external Journal This is the Journal for your Campaign, which contains your Characters and Handouts. This is the same information that's located in your Journal tab in-game. Note that players are only shown Characters and Handouts that are in their journal in-game, while GMs can see all information. As a player, you should be able to view any Character or Handouts that you have control of in the game. Your GM would need to be a supporter or higher subscription and as a player you have to have control in order to view the external journal entries.

Vince has the gist of it. The external journals only show what is viewable to that person. If player A is given the viewing options on sheet A then that is all he will see. If the GM gives him additional sheet B and handout A. He would be able to see those also. The down side of that is the fact that the bios (first tab) on the sheets is what you would get to see. You do not get to see the actual sheet (middle tab) on the community created sheets nor the attribute/abilities section (last tab). If they are not filled out, there is nothing there to see. IF you want anyone to see the character bios and the various handouts in the external journal then assign all players to the able to view selection. The Original campaign creator not the gm as there could be more than one GM has to be a subscriber to have this feature then they still have to enable it also. Wiki page about the feature: https://wiki.roll20.net/Journal#External_Journal_Access
This is one of the features of the campaign that is determined by the subscription level of the person who created the campaign. Just like you can't join a campaign and get dynamic lighting just for you, you can't access the external journal unless the person who made the campaign has it. The flipside of this is that if a campaign creator is a subscriber, everyone in the campaign (including those with free accounts) would have access to this feature. Since you also emailed us about this I'll continue the conversation there as well, but I wanted to clear this up publicly in case anyone else stumbled across this in the future.
Thanks for the info! That all makes sense.
