I clicked on that link out of curiosity and it seems to be broken.

Darvin (Christopher D.) said: DM Rob, at the end of last session I took the cross bow expert feat with the intention of dual wielding hand cross bows. Though, it seems that may not be allowed or it may change: <a href="https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/5859937" rel="nofollow">https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/5859937</a>... If the ruling (not as of yet fully clarified) does not allow dual wielding, that would definitely mess with how I envisioned using it. Should I change the feat now, stick with it regardless of ruling, worry about the ruling later, stick and disregard ruling, etc. Just wanted your input. Thanks! I'd change the feat now to avoid confusion. If it is clarified later down the road, you can take it at a later time. Only reason I'd allow the change is a) the ruling is unclear and b) you haven't even used it yet in-game.
Mike Mearls wrote a cool article on using random tables: <a href="http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/randomnes" rel="nofollow">http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/randomnes</a>... Also, Rob, you mentioned you were rolling on treasure tables, this might be of some use to you, <a href="http://donjon.bin.sh/5e/random/#treasure" rel="nofollow">http://donjon.bin.sh/5e/random/#treasure</a> for quickly rolling up individual or hoard treasures and this <a href="http://www.enworld.org/forum/dnd_view_block.php?id=257" rel="nofollow">http://www.enworld.org/forum/dnd_view_block.php?id=257</a> is a fun tool for rolling up mundane treasures that aren't just gold pieces. I especially like the tools on donjon.bin.sh and used them heavily in my game.
That random table article is magnificent. Really helps me out as a budding DM. Preparation is the hardest thing I deal with, especially since I tend to ignore it in lieu of playing games or watching TV like my previous routine involved.
I LOVE story-based games like the one we are in, but I don't love writing, so I don't run them myself. I present my players opportunities to solve problems, both short- and long-term, so having lots of random tables makes my life much easier. Donjon also has a great random encounters by biome tool that I used heavily as they travelled.
Oh I absolutely love writing. If I won the lottery I could quit work and actually write full time instead of being stuck wasting hours of my life contributing to a consumer culture that I hate.
Ah, yes ! I have used tables like these online before and I love them. I should save them in my favorites tab. I just didn't have it handy at the time, so I rolled up from the DMG directly. I also use my best judgement, like a cave full of spider beasts probably doesn't have a need for much loot -- so I'll adjust accordingly. I also spread wealth out. If it's been awhile since a logical time for loot, I'll hit you guys with a shit ton (as you've seen on more than one occassion, most recently with Darlonzola and before that with the flying broom) speaking of the flying broom.... didn't Darvin have that? Or did he trade it to Marit? Don't forget the secret password to make it fly. I also wanted last session to be very story-based because we hadn't had a session like that in awhile (after the two boss battles in a row (green hags and Quiezart)) ...I also knew that the ettercaps were just a minor side quest, so I wanted to make it as Theater of the Mind as possible. Having Prince Azriel's trust will be helpful to you all. And it looks like Marit may have a fiance.
Darvin did have the broom, but Marit was the one who normally carried it. Honestly, though I hate to admit it, it seems kinda funny for the whole group to just remember that Darvin had it, and now he's ashes in the wind. Someone is gonna be the Squid in the group after that(Rocket Power reference.) In the more likely scenario that someone else has it, the magic word was beauty.
I guess we can say that Marit is carrying it then.

Are we doing the DMG Massive Damage rule variant? I feel like it come up at some point, but a search doesn't return any references to it for me. If so, should it also apply to enemies?
Oh hey, I just found the discussion, farther up in this very post. Nevermind me.
TIL that, by the rules, only melee damage can be non-lethal. Sometimes an attacker wants to incapacitate a foe, rather than deal a killing blow. When an attacker reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack , the attacker can knock the creature out. The attacker can make this choice the instant the damage is dealt. The creature falls unconscious and is stable.
Makes sense really
Totally does, it just never crossed my mind.
How many ki points should Belanor and Tarnach have max right now? I noticed that Belanor's token has 4 max and Tarnach's has 5 max. Which is correct?
5.monks have Ki points equal to their monk level.
Marco G. said: 5.monks have Ki points equal to their monk level. OK we have to have Belanor update his token to 5 then. Thanks!
Yup yup

My Ki bar is over the water so it looks full but it actually is not. I spend a Ki point last session throwing a spear back at one of the creatures.
Good eye.

(Psst belanor, take the free Ki point.)
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrEiyRO7xHs&featur" rel="nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrEiyRO7xHs&featur</a>... So this is a link to a video, and shortly after the point where it starts, you see one character essentially teleport and piledrive another character into the ground. Now I've been curious about this for a while, but now that I have my teleport I'd like to ask:What would be your ruling for allowing me to do this Rob? To grapple a creature, then shadow teleport up 60 feet and let them take the fall damage? BTW if you deem it's too OP, I'm fine with that. I just think it would be cool to do that.

That's where the rulings go iffy. At this point, I feel certain Tarnach is probably not gonna live long enough to do this anyway, but I was curious what you guys thought, because it seems monk attracts a lot of rulings questions. It basically says I can teleport from dark shadow to dark shadow within 60 feet. Many people point out that you can carry weapons with you that you hold in your hands, but it's still a curious rulings question.
I would say shadow to shadow taking whatever you carry as long as it is within your carrying capacity with you. Pretty much just like the teleport spell, but I would think it would have to be an area within 60ft. that you can see too kind of like a Misty Step.
FWIW, Misty Step is a level 2 spell that lets you take hand held items. Dimension Door is a level 4 spell that lets you take 1 willing creature.
I'll rule that if you succeed on a grapple against a medium or smaller creature by using your action, then you can transport the unwilling grappled creature with you in your teleport - but, there are 2 caveats: The unwilling creature gets an extra immediate chance to escape with a second Acrobatics or Athletics check. There still must be shadow where you are teleporting, and typically in the middle of the air, there is no shadow, so it would most likely be at night, unless you teleport where four corners meet in darkness. This is void if the creature's weight puts you over your carrying capacity -- so make sure your inventory is up-to-date and accurately weighted, I will be double checking.
Sounds cool. Like I said though, most likely the point will be moot. Just a cool thing to think about though, if Tarnach manages to pull a karate kid and live.&nbsp;

When you take the Dodge action, you focus entirely on avoiding attacks. Until the start of your next turn, any attack roll made against you has disadvantage if you can see the attacker, and you make Dexterity saving throws with advantage . You lose this benefit if you are incapacitated (as explained in appendix A) or if your speed drops to 0. --- Its been awhile since I reviewed the combat actions so I was feeling pretty down that DEX saving throws weren't included in the dodge action. Turns out I was wrong and they are, something to keep in mind!

Check out this article on dismemberment in D&D:&nbsp; <a href="http://theangrygm.com/dungeons-and-dragons-and-dis" rel="nofollow">http://theangrygm.com/dungeons-and-dragons-and-dis</a>..
I was peeking through the Sage Advice Compendium ( <a href="http://media.wizards.com/2016/downloads/dnd/SA-Com" rel="nofollow">http://media.wizards.com/2016/downloads/dnd/SA-Com</a>... ) for unrelated ruling info, but I ran across something that will be super useful for me using Lucky: The Lucky feat lets you spend a luck point; roll an extra d20 for an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw; and then choose which d20 to use. This is true no matter how many d20s are in the mix. For example, if you have disadvantage on your attack roll, you could spend a luck point, roll a third d20, and then decide which of the three dice to use . You still have disadvantage, since the feat doesn’t say it gets rid of it, but you do get to pick the die. Seems to indicate that even in the case of [dis]advantage, I get to pick the single die to use as my roll. What do you say DM Rob?
I would say that you roll your disadvantage + Luck So you roll 2 dice over here, and 1 die over there. If the 1 die over there is more favorable than one in the 2 pool, you can swap it with one of those die; still taking the lower of the two.
