Transferring Tokens from Map to Map, Reusing Tokens, etc.

I have some questions regarding tokens.  1) How can I transfer my PCs' tokens from one map to another (while keeping the settings associated with them)? 2) If I've already created a token for a PC, and I accidently delete it or otherwise lose it, how can I recreate the token from my artwork, instead of uploading the image again?  It seems like I should be able to just drag the image from the artwork onto the map, but I've tried that, and it doesn't work. 3) How do I use the same image for a PCs token and for their "character sheet" in the journal without ending up with 2 copies of the image in my art library? 4) How do you change the size of the token without changing the height to width ratio?  Do I hold down alt or shift while resizing, or something else? Thanks!
Lex,  1. My suggestion is to make a sort of "token bag" page.  Lots of users have found that to be useful.  Basically, put all the tokens you want to use on there and get them set up the way you like.  Then you can just copy then from that page and paste them to another.  That will keep all the settings the same too. 2. Were you trying to drag the image from "your library" page or from the "art library" tab on the right hand side?  You can't drag and drop from your library (the one you access by clicking on the star).  Lots of folks get tripped up by that.  But you can search for the images in the art library tab and drag them from there.  I would suggest tagging the PC tokens in your art library with something memorable, like PC or Party. 3.  You should be able to do a search in the art library tab for the image you want and then just drag that into the slot for the character avatar so that you don't need a duplicate image. 4. When you click on the token and get the resize handles, if you choose one of the handles that's in the four corners, it should resize keeping the same ratio.  If you click on the ones on the top, bottom, left, or right, it will distort the proportions.
I am also an afficionado of the token bag however, I would love to see a tab like the turn order where I could have all my PC's tokens so I can easily just drop people onto maps as need be, whilst keeping their bars all set up with their current status.
Rob, not to be all "teaser-y" or anything, but there's something that's being tested on the development server that should help with this tremendously.  Hopefully it will get rolled out to the production server in the next update or two because it's pretty darned useful.
I just leave a wide white part at the bottom of all my pages, or the top - make dupes of every PC token on the DM overlay area where I can see them - the do a mass copy/paste when going  a new map. Well, till i started playing on the Dev Server :)
Thanks so much for all the tips Sarah!  That really helps a lot.  I was confusing the art library with my library.  I didn't realize I could find images I'd uploaded in the library now.  I think that I understand how to make it work.  I'm also going to try the token bag idea.  I actually started doing that for monsters and NPCs.  I don't know why it didn't occur to me to do it with the PCs too. Thanks again!
Lex, glad I could help. :) One thing I did, besides a "monster bag" page, was to create a sort of start page for my players.  I put all their tokens on there so they could edit them if they entered the campaign when I wasn't around.  The only hard part is remember to move the player bookmark back to that page when we finish playing every session. :)   It actually has worked rather well and I can put art on the map layer to tease the next session or leave clues or reminders about things that might be important soon.
Oh, that's a great idea!  I'm going to do that right now.  :D

I do that also Sarah. The player page has the day and time of the session along with a brief summary of the last session with their tokens. It works rather well.
Great minds, Metroknight. :D I hadn't actually thought of doing a whole summary.  That's a great idea, especially since we tend to have a long break between sessions.  I always seem to end up wasting time summarizing things.  I may have to borrow that.

you are welcome to it and I also post the session log in my game board on mayhem gaming forum. This lets anyone who missed a session due to family or medical or etc... but have their character with the group still, know what happened with their character.
That's a great idea!

That is the advantage of using text based games but the same thing can be done with the voice games. you can use a screen capture program and record the session then post it to youtube like alot of people. This gives the members of the group something to watch or listen to so they can catch up.My problems is that I don't have time to sit for 3 or 4 hrs to catch everything said or done in the session. That is why I prefer doing text based sessions.
