Jim F. said: All I'm looking for right now is a common goal for the group. Like are we going to be pirates, smugglers or bounty hunters? I mean we just decided we had to get off a planet rather urgently and the best option we could think of was to buy some beat up junker that might start and what are we going to do with the ship once we are out of here? If we don't know what we are going to do after we get off Targatis there must have been other cheaper ways then buying a ship. Maybe some of the issue is the pace I let the last game night run. Things moved very fast, much quicker than usual. And maybe questions such as the ones that should have been made in character or in game didnt have a chance to be spoken or asked. That would be my fault as a GM, apologies about that... How about this - Now is the chance to basically stop what characters are doing, working on the ship, etc. And suddenly Kaimana or others, are like, "This is crazy! We just bought a junker ship???! What are we doing?? This isnt like me, why did I do this, why did we just do this??" and then "What are we planning to do with this thing? I'm confused..?? Whats going on, what are we planning to do??" or some such thing - Which opens us all up to opportunity to ask those questions and work things out in character in one way or another. I am not sure exactly what you felt you were breaking character and doing? But having done that before myself, done something my character would not have done, I've turned it around in game and righted the error, by straight out saying, "Hey I'm making a mistake, or hey, what are we doing? This is crazy, or etc or whoa lets talk about this. " This can open up the dialog for - "Just what are we doing?" - Does this help? I want things to work for everyone, and not go against a characters traits or characteristics. A ship opens opportunities for Jims great questions - I'm looking for right now is a common goal for the group. Like are we going to be pirates, smugglers or bounty hunters? Some NPCs can also fill roles, though I'd rather had PCs do it. But a ship can also be big enough for more than just PCs sometimes. In addition, though the game moved fast paced, it doesnt have to mean all things were done and considered and carved in stone already. Things sit at - A merchant ship was purchased, and towed near the Lizzy Morblin repair bay ( it wont fit inside). It was powered up, reactor recharched, and an In-System drive engine attached or in the makings of being attached. An main computer was turned on. That was about it in my book. It will take several days or more to be able to safely operate the ship. In that time many things can go on. Plans discussed, money can change hands even more ( many people would be interested in a stake in a merchant starship) , a crew of decent skills should be organized, and an overall goal of what will we do with this opportunity should be formulated.
