For this session, the following players participated: •Archie as Enarit the Scout at 271 Points •Brandon as Rothuk the Barbarian at 257 Points •Luke as Captain Kritty the Catfolk Swashbuckler at 243 Points •Valter as Ulf the Leprechaun Wizard at 250 Points Unfortunately our other GM, Stripe, could not make it this week due to problems with his connection so the cowardly Gaffer stayed back on the steps, waiting for the rest of the group to make an impact on the contents of the dungeon. Starting off the session, we recapped the previous session as well as review the rules that would be made if they encountered such a pitch black darkness again to bring it more in line with the discoveries made from research done after the previous session in addition to a few other unimportant items. Our intrepid group, having taken nearly a ten minute break outside the crypt to regroup and rest for a bit before returning back down and entering the mortuary once more only to be greeted by a few rats had crawled from the hole in the ground. Following a warning from Rothuk who managed to identify that these weren’t normal rats. They were as easily as large as an English sheepdog and their striking green eyes and their twitchy nature belied something of their chaotic nature. This was soon proven when Rothuk hewed the first rat with Bandos’s Hand and he got a surprise when it dissolved into a puddle of corrosive goo upon its death. As the battle went back and forth, Ulf providing back up spells and light for the group, they discovered that some of the rats just wouldn’t stay dead. Instead they would reform fully healed from the goo they had dissolved into with one of them repeatedly attacking Captain Kritty. Enarit's keen senses noticed an inky blackness emerging from a hole in the floor—the return of the monstrous rat from before. He shouted a warning to the barbarian who heaved a table over the hole just in time to prevent its emergence. At the same time, Enarit's arrows and Kritty's flashing sword kept the final dire rat occupied. However, the single tenacious rat continued to reform and spawn anew from the primordial ooze it became upon death. Kritty left the reforming puddle of goo to Enarit who found he had apparently killed it one too many times when it suddenly exploded straight in his face. Managing to just barely escape damage from a dire rat, Ulf finally had the time to seal the hole in the floor preventing any more rats from emerging into that room. Thankfully, the darkness was contained . . . for now. Kritty, in the meantime, managed to get distracted by the mortuary’s shelves and nearly caused a rather bad accident when he knocked a urn to the ground, thankfully catching it while Ulf managed to identify that it had a rather powerful, and dark, enchantment on it. Despite the rather verbose discussion about looting all the items from the shelves of the still active mortuary and opening a shop, despite the offer Johnathon gave being any potions they might find while keeping the graves safe, the group managed to make its way down to the south end of the mortuary and after a surprising battle from a rat hiding within the coffins. With that final foe dispatched, and a quick discussion about tactics, they opened the door and strode through triggering a trap of a falling halberd that they just barely managed to dodge, leaving it to break in two as it impacted on the ground. Not so interested with the trap that had been set, the group instead were interested by the group of skulls that lay against the walls on the floor. After some experimentation, Ulf managed to determine and tell the group that they were actually constructs, bone golems of sorts, and with that information the group set to destroy them before they could be activated. Unfortunately, what they didn’t realized as they moved to burn them in the crematorium furnace, is that they were already active and just lying in wait. When the screams from the skulls subsided and the battle done with, Kritty was left with a nearly crippled left arm from a bite while Ulf had kept one of them busy enough for it to be destroyed by his companions. Unfortunately though, in the chaos that had occurred, two of the Skull Spider constructs managed to get away into the darkness. Instead of venturing further into the dungeon, they decided that it was time to retreat once more to nurse their wounds and regroup, heading for the safety of the entryway and the staircase out where the Ratkin Gaffer waited for them on the stairs. So the questions now are what is that giant rat and its darkness? Where did the two remaining skull spiders hide in the darkness of the crypt and will they return? What is down the dark hallway the group didn’t explore further? What is behind the door with the magical trap on the knob? And how are all these things connected to the disappearance of the Undertaker? Rewards: • 1CP from fighting the groups of monsters Total of 1CP gained from this session.
