Which API related suggestion(s) from the Suggestion forum would have the biggest impact for roll20? I dont feel qualified to make an informed vote. I understand that this is a rather subjective question, but I was hoping to hear some opinions by the "Brains" behind roll20's "Braun". And I have few free votes as well... Thanks

I am amazed you came up with a question. Fine... just got admonished for that.... it is the holiday season.. I think anything that leads to a user interface, (but I do think prioritizing the API suggestions is good idea.)

1) [API] User Interface Framework If we can't get that: 2) [API] The ability to send HTML anchor tags that link to api commands and [API] /direct for whispers together

Yeah. 1) would be amazing, depending on how it was implemented. Being able to spawn a persisted window with elements would be fantastic, so you could design whatever nifty UI you wanted that would stay around. 2) would basically let me fake it in the chat window. Spawning links that run chat commands would be great. In order to whisper that to a user you'd need to have the /direct for whispers though. (/w strips links. =( )

Lack of UI is stifling..... lots of other things needed.... but lack of UI is restricting what we can do with things we already have.

Cards after that? I have done nothing with cards because of the limited API access. I would say 3) cards... because its so closed off.

Concur. There's some great things we could do with more deck access. (Like, create them... ) Is there a suggestion for accessing images that have their source in the marketplace but are purchased or provided to the individual? That would be a great one. Access to tags is also something that would be grand.

Damn. 1) UI or... 2) API anchor tag commands with whisper direct. 3) Cards 4) Market access to images and tag access for market and personal library. Those would allow a lot more to be created and much easier to people that just want to install API scripts.

I figured it would be "The" Aaron and Stephen with the most comments here... Brian, HoneyBadger, Bueller, Bueller,...?

Added my +1 vote for [API] The ability to send HTML anchor tags that link to api commands Now at +27 and yet not a single comment... Seems this suggestion is very similar to [API] User Interface Framework . How would these API UI improvements actually work for the end-user?

For the HTML one, scriots could present menus in chat with clickable options to perform certain actions. The most obvious use to me is configuration. Presented with a list of settings, click the On to turn it off, etc. Other examples: Automated shop - click to buy item List of commands you've run - click to run again Automated prompting of situational options, (you just room damage, do you want to cast this retribution spell? Your turn ended, do you want to save on this effect? Your player made a stealth check, click here to set the DC.) And any number of other things....

You know.... supporting two record sheet types.... one for characters and one for API... along with pop out would do it wouldn't it?

It would also be convenient for automatically generating the (complicated set of) necessary parameters for a command you may or may not want to run at all. Instead of forcing the user to figure out the parameters or forcing the user to run the command, you give them a link they can click.

The TokenMod UI would look like a date.com questionnaire... I think I have a much better understanding now. Last free vote, API Whisper or API card/deck? I have an interest in both additions. Thanks for this discussion BTW.

I'm creating a "throw away" just to mess with Aaron and the other Mods on the forums. :~) Congrats Aaron. Hopefully this is just your trial period before getting hired as a Dev/Coder...

Vince - is there a suggestion for the API for Cards/Decks? I haven't seen it, but was honestly hoping it wouldn't require a formal suggestion, since the API wiki has mentioned for sometime that they were working helper functions for the decks and cards... :( But if there is a formal suggestion can you link to it? Being a Savage Worlds player I'll definitely throw my support that way.

These two seem some what related: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1241392/card-car" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1241392/card-car</a>... <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1240005/enhanced" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1240005/enhanced</a>...

Thanks Aaron. I'd actually already voted on the first and the second doesn't seem to be API related (unless I just read it too fast). :) Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing one.

Your right G.V. there isn't much on the suggestion forum in regards to API and card/decks. I'm willing to post a new suggestion for more API card/deck interaction if we can come up with the collective verbiage . Otherwise I can just support [Card] Card Activated API, API readable data in cards I guess I'm asking if this suggestion is enough? It takes a community. :-)
