Jace Kaisar: The Monk with Spunk is Looking for a Campaign

I'll be straight here. I've never played a round of D&D in my life. However, I've attempted to join groups several times over the years, and have prepped extensively as such. I found this site on Reddit, and am trying to get a group to play a campaign on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I prefer a campaign with equal amounts of fighting and non-combat activities (Like searching a city to find a clue or such). While searching for groups, I've actually created a character that I WANT to play in my first game. Meet: Jace Kaisar Jace Kaisar is a Human Monk with the Urchin Background. He is around 5'11" and weighs 170 lbs. He is True Neutral. Jace grew up in the back alleys of a city, alone for most of his life. Struggling to survive, he takes myriad jobs in the unsavory side of town. He was forced to learn how to survive in the mostly lawless side of town. He would swindle those with too much money and not enough wits. He would help protect shipments for local businessmen, both legitimate and shady. He never let it drag him down too far though, always refusing to harm or steal from those worse off than him. His experience also honed his perception. He can notice when a deal is going bad, or when the alley he is walking down has hidden traps or is perfect for an ambush. He became a monk because of his situation. In the slums, large weapons were easily noticed, and while knives were effective, they were also expected. Most people encountered them enough to learn how to fight against them, or to even remove them from persons when they entered an establishment. Jace learned to rely on his fists instead, as he would always have them on him. It played a lot into his self reliance, as he learned that people and tools were not something that you could always rely on 100% of the time. He learned to do without, prefferring a more difficult path, simply because it was a path that would always be open and availible. His body tells as much of his story as his history. His torso is covered in tatoos, and his body is scarred from close calls. Since he spent most of his time running from muggers or even the local law enforcement, his body is toned and athletic. His hair is actually a light brown, but dirt and oil makes it appear a much darker shade. Combine with bright blue eyes and an above average intellect, and one could see how he might look if cleaned up. One can see the tragedy in what he could have been, had he been born in raised elsewhere. Being a loner, he learned to rely on himself. He is not incapable of working with a group, but he never has been able to fully trust someone. Most of his "friends" ended up betraying him or using him, causing him to shy away from others. He can't ignore others though, as he knows that working together is far more efficient and beneficial. This leads him to be the "loner" in the group, being there for his own benefit, not for others. His most valued piece of equipment is his Thieves tools, as they have always helped him, and he feels that they can be far more reliable than others at times. His life has affected his personality as well. In a world where words can carry far more weight than they imply, he takes seriously all veiled threats against him. He is always looking to make money, as it is what makes that world in the slums go round. He also can't resist a good wager, seeing as he has a good eye for picking the right bet. He also has a strong distrust of law enforcement. Too many times has he seen guards operate outside of their powers, swayed by bribes and powerful gang lords. Throughout all of this, he is looking for a way out. His ideal is to eventually get out of this life. To be able to fall asleep one day without having to worry about a knife in the back. He also wants nobody else to have to live a life like this, which has set him back several times. He would often give money or find ways to get kids out of that side of town if possible, even if it means more hardship for him. These are the only times when he has put others over himself. So, there he is. Jace Kaisar is ready to join your campaign as soon as he can. I actually had a ton of fun just making the dude :D Hit me up here or with a PM if you're interested. I have access to skype, mumble, and raidcall. I also have experience with teamspeak, although I'd have to re-install it. 07
Hello do you do any form of 3.5e gaming?
Cerene said: Hello do you do any form of 3.5e gaming? Yeah, I'm familiar with it. I'm still unsure how exactly these forums work, so I sent you a PM to make sure you were notified of the response. I actually learned 3.5 for Pathfinder a year or two ago before me and my friends left for college. We were gonna play over the summer, but things happened and the game never actually took off. Read that core book cover to cover though, so at least that was useful :D
