LFG d100/BRP, Runequest 6, Openquest, Legend, Magic World ... weekdays

Currently reading Runequest 6 but I am interested in d100/BRP based games in general. I've played and GMed many games over the years but a newb at Roll20. I have some flexibility to get a pass during weekdays.

Hey Jason, I'm a big fan of the d100/BRP based games as well.... I can GM or play (but would find playing easier). I am interested, by my availability can fluctuate wildly. A bi-weekly session (with flexibility to go 2 weeks in a row and maybe with a 3 week break some times) would be the easiest for me to commit to. I'm in EST (GMT-5), so if you find a group with a flexible schedule, and would like another, please keep me in mind. Cheers!

for someone running this kind of organic system? i'll break my rule against committing to anything long-term. i want in! i'm also a personal fan of anything Glorantha, bonus points if the elves are straight up ents, but as they say, YGWV

Kalman and Michael, do either of you have any proposals on a system and/or setting? Btw, I am GMT -3 Michael, I am already routing for your Renaissance game and will hopefully be playing in that once the times have been agreed. Also, your offer of GMIng is very welcome as I am super rusty and need some time to get back into rpging.
like i said, i'd vote for bronze-age rune-quest, with full on tree-style elves! BRP's original setting, as close as we can get it to original cannon! that is, if either of you are familiar with it. personally i feel that BRP lends itself to more thoughtful stealth-based styles of play. it doesn't have to be realistic, but i would prefer whatever we play to have it's own internal logic.

Bronze age Runequest was what was presented in Mongoose's first run at Runequest, was it not? That is the Glorantha material I am most familiar with. I'm personally not very attached to any setting, but if I am a likely GM, I like being a lazy GM and using or drawing from existing published material over having to write or create everything
I know which mongoose books you refer to (i believe they are actually mongooses' second stab at runequest). Those books are very late BRP, and while the setting info they provide is a nice version of Glorantha, the level up mechanic in those books is... not BRP's organic level up. Mongoose changed it into getting a certain number of rolls upon "level up" as opposed to every skill used getting it's own chance. Other than that single point, i've played it before with a house rule to re-establish the old level up system. there are some other minor detail point sin teh system that aren't perfect, but it handles well enough and there are tons of fun things that can be done in game. If you're not used to it, Starting characters can be a little top-heavy. I remember in my first game i build a fire-mage archer, and i lost my arm in the first combat, and i became a sword and shield used because i spent more time swing a one-handed sword than doing anything else in the first few games. i love organic level up for reasons like that. the character really took on a life of it's own.
Thanks for the heads up on this thread, Kalman S. I'm interested in running a BRP-Magic World campaign using either the Southern Kingdoms setting or perhaps a quasi-mythic/historical setting (i.e. Arthurian, medieval, etc.), if anyone is interested. I'd also be interested in playing other D100 games though.
Paul Va, that does sound interesting, especially the Southen kingdoms as a setting. Although, a Mythic Britain setting sounds great too.

mythic Britain is interesting but non-specific. What mythology would you be pulling from? Britain, historically, had very primitive barbarian-like sociatal structure, up untill after camelot. Could be interesting, but your standard fantasy archetypes won't necessarily live long in a BRP system. i'm uncertain what other archetypes are available. i'm intrigued, i love the idea of a mythic Britain, i just need more information. personally i'm a hue fan of pre-camelot king author stuffs. It might be a great fit. The southern kingdoms, i assume you mean a middle eastern styled game? deserts, djinn, caravans, oasis..es? oasisi? oasiseese? sound like a blast too. i'm very open to this idea as-well, and if it's what i think it is, then i also have a much better idea of what it would look like. Which rule set for BRP would you use? there are a lot and i'm only familiar with a few of them. in a BRP game, i can't imagine myself playing anything else at char then, than a utility character. i'm prone to stealth tactics in lethal settings though, so that's what i'm thinking so far. also, since we're tossing out unusual settings, others i've never played but always wanted to. Naval, frozen north, south american jungle. Paul, also, do you have any thoughts on what kind of basic plot-hook you might use? also helps with character concepts.
okay so this is so hard to find to check to see if there has been a response. i made this. https://app.roll20.net/join/635389/DJ3GQg it's a place-holder for now once we all join up i'll make whoever ends up the GM the GM and we can change all the settings, but once it's all hooked up, i'll be able to set it up so when we send notifications we all get alerts. just click the link, join the game and i'll get everything else in place, and then hand it over to the GM.
Kalman, thanks for setting all that up. Since Michael is trying to get a Renaissance game going, I think it makes sense to move forward with Paul's offer of GMing Magic World. How does that sound? Paul, how would you like to proceed? I guess we need to set times. It would be great if each of you could provide the following: What is your timezone to GMT? When are suitable gaming times for you? I am GMT -3, reasonably flexible on times and can get a pass one evening per week if I know in advance and make arrangements. I am keen to get this going asap, before the momentum dries up.
